READ THE RULES PRETTY PLS >_>
hi! i was just wondering how people feel about user-made guides to trading. i dont know much about worths so i cant help but feel a little anxious when looking for user made guides, are there some that are more reliable then others for better or fair trades? seeing how they are the building blocks of how people view a trade >.> so i thought it would be nice to get a few opinions!
rules
please keep your responses kind and respectful and dont go out to act snarky or rude about how guides are made, when pointing out pros and cons be constructive about your criticism! this is not a thread to argue over what trading guide you use.. thanks so much!! ^_^

Hi!
Horror's List is currently the most popular user based guide to trading pets.
Is this a fair trade? thread is also common to seek opinions from users on trades.
The Rare's List was the original 'list' everyone used to trade pets.
I have the unpopular opinion compared to most users here, but if you are unsure about a trade. Don't trade it. I value my omgsr pets higher than pets that are higher on a 'list', but are not omgsr. Still, a lot of people swear by a 'list' and may ask for several omgsrs (mustard heart husky 08' omgsr for example) for an extremely rare (BMD 08' extremely rare for example) solely because of it's place on the original rare's list. Your best bet is to only trade your pets when YOU are happy with the trade. We all are allowed to value our pets higher./lower than what any
user made list says.

i think the user made guides are nice to use, as a guide. what is off putting to me, is that a lot of people use them as the end all be all. i was excited for the rarity overhaul because i thought that it would open the door for people to start trading more based on rarity and personal preference as opposed to almost entirely demand and โguide/listโ based. look at all of the advent pets that are omgsr. theyโre the highest rarity on the site, but get traded for such low values because of the list.
i dislike demand being such a huge thing thatโs taken into account, because thatโs what ends up driving the โpriceโ up. if you say something has great demand, all of the sudden everyone wants it. if you say a pet has low demand, all of the sudden no one wants it. take the tribal dogs for example. theyโve been โlow demandโ since i first got one in 2010/2011. i like them, i think theyโre great. iโve had no issues trading them off for their fair value but people still insist they are low demand which makes them hard to trade.
i think as a whole, itโs been way easier for me to trade within values. i tend to trade for what i want, and how i personally perceive somethingโs value as opposed to how the guides do. i enjoyed trading when it is more subjective. as in, i want this pet from someone, they want this pet from me, weโre both happy with the trade so we trade. as opposed to making sure every single โvalueโ is spot on for every single trade. if itโs unfair by a rare or two, it doesnโt make a difference to me personally but i know not everyone shares that idea.
where i do think the user made guides are nice, is it makes it easier for players with less trading experience to ensure they are getting a fair value for their pets. i think that aspect is a nice community booster, because the knowledge is right there.
so a tldr: i like them for the ease of trading, i dislike them because they are so demand based.

@sunka
You have some good points.
I think it's a like a did-the-chicken-or-the-egg-come-first situation. And I think it depends on the pet. Some pets are low demand because they genuinely are low demand, but others might be low demand just because everyone says they are. The tribals are a great example; I really like them and I think a lot of people do. But the list ranks them lower so they're lower.
Butterfly wolves are another good example! They have been regarded as a low-demand species for a long time but
this species popularity poll I ran showed that butterfly wolves are one of the most-liked species on the site!
