How To Censor Pet Images on Chicken Smoothie

There's currently a suggestion to add the ability to censor pets, by species or individually. Right now there's no way to do this purely on chicken smoothie, but a series of posts by user CaptainSpank detailed how to censor images. I got inspired and have decided to make this guide dedicated to sharing the method

Disclaimers:
This method will not block images of pets with items
I don't know why or how this works. I reverse engineered everything from the original post
I might make a mistake with the images. I might've missed one, adjusted the url wrong, etc. please notify me via pm of any issue
I'm not really able to help with troubleshooting. Everything I'll talk about here I've figured out by messing around. I have no other knowledge unfortunately

Before We Get Started:

There will be NO HATE directed towards designs, artists, or fans of pets. Every pet is someone's favourite. Every design was created with a lot of hard work and talent. It's okay to have an aversion to pet designs, it's NOT okay to make others feel bad about it!

What IS allowed: "i'm not a fan of realistic insects" or "body horror tends to freak me out" or "this specific pet makes me feel uncomfortable"

What is NOT allowed: "this pet is so disgusting" or "how could anyone like these?"

Final Intro:

Before we actually get into the codes I need to remind you that this will not block images of pets with items. It will also not block the transparent images used in outcomes thread or transpets. You would have to add each of those image url's to the custom rules individually either with "block element" or by the other methods discussed below

I don't know how/if you would edit the urls at all. I just plop them in and they seem to work fine (i am. NOT knowledgeable in any of this. im just doing my best)

FAQ:

When will this be updated?:
I'll be updating the list when the archives update. If I don't have them updated by the end of the month, pm me. I've probably forgotten

Will you make codes to block the transparent versions used on the outcome and trade threads?
If there's enough demand for it, I don't mind providing a list of those, but for now, I'll just be sticking to the archive images

Can I request pets to block?
Yes! Thats part of the reason I'm doing this! Leave a comment, or pm me (vastly preferred. i dont check this thread often). I can list the codes privately or publicly. All request fills will be anonymous

What pets can you block?
I can fill specific requests. Here are some examples of thing's i can do:
-all of a certain species (spiders or snakes)
-an easily understandable request (multi-headed animals) with the understanding I might miss some
-a specific pet or litter
-items. with the understanding that they might not work in all scenarios or that i might miss some

Examples of things i can't do:
-something overly generic (space themed pets)
-something subjective/that i could misunderstand (pets that trigger trypophobia)

I noticed a mistake in your codes! What do i do?
Please pm me if you notice a mistake! Theres a lot of places i could mess up and it's not really feasible for me to check every list I make.

Can I contribute to the lists?
Yes of course! If you make a list that you would like to be added, leave a comment or pm me and ill add it to the appropriate section (with or without credit however you'd prefer)

If we block the image, what do we see instead? Let's look at some common scenarios, with and without the image blocked!

I'm going to be using this macaw as an example for pets, and the CS Flag as my item example. Let's go through each scenario one by one

Archives - Before

Archives - After

Groups/My Items - Before
The pet on the left has no items, and the pet on the right has items on

Groups/My Items - After
Pets with items will not automatically be blocked, you'll need to block any pets with items individually using the methods below

Trades - Before
(the lock is because the macaw is in a locked group)

Pet Profile - Before

Here is a good place to mention one of the quirks that comes with this. Since you usually reach the pets profile page by clicking on the image (that is no longer there) unless you know their ID number, theres not an easy way to access it. If you use the ID number to access the page, it looks like this

Dress-ups - After
Once you use the ID number to get to your pets profile, youre free to add items. The pet is still there when you go into this mode. Also, the item is still visible when dressing up pets. You would have to use a method below to block this specific instance of the item. if the demand is there i could add these for items i have

How To Block:

You're going to need a browser extension that blocks elements. I personaly use a firefox extension, AdBlocker Ultimate, on desktop (mac and windows) and mobile (android). It functions the exact same across all three devices. I'll be going through step by step on my extension, but i'm sure whichever one you use functions similarly.

Disclaimer: this is just the one i use. i dont know if its the "best" option or whatever, i just found the custom rules process pretty easy

Here you'll see the options I have when clicking on the extension. For now, lets focus on settings

We want to make our way over to the "custom rules" section. This is where we'll paste any image url's we want blocked. Lets try it out using the code for this macaw

Hit "select all" and copy the code. Paste it into the section. When you come back you should see something like this in the archives (it might take a refresh, or opening a completely new tab) Try seeing how the macaws in my test group looks. How does my macaw with items on look?

Pets with items will unfortunately not be blocked using this method

Perfect! The same method will work for any of the code lists below, or any ones you make yourself

How To Unblock:

If you ever need or want to see the images again, you have a couple different options!

Disabling for the Site

I'm using AdBlocker Ultimate on firefox and for me there's an option to disable or enable the extension for the specific site i'm on. When enabled, the extension is blocking everything you tell it too using the custom rules. When disabled, it isnt. This is useful for fine-tuning which sites you want the extension active, and quickly turning the extension on or off. I can't really do a demonstration, but just trust me on this haha

Disabling the Extension

If you ever wanted to disable the entire extension, not just for one site, you can go to the manage extension page. Here you can either turn the entire extension on or off, or delete it all together. Enabling and disabling the extension keeps the custom rules history, I would consider backing up the custom rules if you ever wanted to fully delete the extension.

Deleting the Custom Rules

Deleting the rule is easy, simply go to where you typed it in under "Custom Rules" or your equivalent, and delete it :)

With AdBlocker Ultimate I originally had an issue where if I deleted all of my custom rules until I only had one row left, the rules wouldnt properly update, and would still be blocking images. If you ever have that issue, I solved it by hitting enter and having a second row completely empty

So now we know how to block the image, but how do we actually make the codes? First step is to find a pet you want to block in the archives. Lets use the macaw above's littermate

Now that we have the pet, we have to get the image url. You can get this on desktop and mobile. On desktop, right click on the image. You should see a couple of options

We want the image url, so hit the copy image link button.

On mobile, we hold down on the image, here's my prompts on two different browsers. On firefox, we get

Here's a different browser on mobile. Uh oh, theres no button for image link! Now what?

Well, we open the image in a different tab. You should see something like this

Luckily the url at the top is exactly what we need! This method works on any device, it's just slower than the other two methods listed above. Copy the url

Make Your Own List..part 2:

Items are pretty easy! Lets practice using the cs flag

The same image url is used for the archives, trades, and my items. Simply copy the url you get from the archives using the method above and paste it directly into your extension of choice

Using this method items that you own will still appear when dressing up a pet. Open the dress up menu and find the item you'd like to block. Now copy and paste that image url into your extension of choice

For any other image (including pets with items) simply copy-paste the image url into your extension of choice. Now we can finally block that pesky macaw from my example group

This is a list of the full spider lines (including the eggs). Scorpions have been separated. There is a separate section for pets not on the spider lines that are heavily edited to look like spiders. I've provided an archive link to each of them so you can see exactly what im referencing.

HUGE shoutout to CaptainSpank for providing the bulk of the Spider and Scorpion List!! The lists are separated by year, and later years are separated by month (in case certain spiders don't bother you)

Needles
My cousin (i love you so much) went through and "block elemented" every single needle in like every situation (i love you so much). I havent been coming across them in the pound so i dont know if it works there. But this works in archives, trades (at least the wanting side), and item lists. This is so ugly and probably overkill. It works for me, and I cant promise its completely needle free but its heavily needle reduced. I'm too freaked out to do it the normal way so us lame-os get this massive wall of text lol
