The Hatchery - A guide to eggs and other mystery boxes.

So, with the release of the new easter 2021 mystery eggs, I realized that a lot of the times we get eggs, I have no idea what the different eggs can grow into. Is this a new species? Or have we seen them before? I'm not sure.

And I don't think we have a guide that shows what the different eggs on the site can grow into and going on a litteral egg hunt in the archive is tedious and boring. So I decided to make a guide that shows the different eggs and various other boxes and containers, past and present, and what they grow into.

Let's begin with one of the most common eggs, if not the most common egg on the site, the chicken egg:


This egg hatches into Chickens but there's a twist! It can also hatch into Eastern dragons:


Whenever you see this egg, assume it's a clutch of chickens but don't be surprised if they hatch into dragons!

Another relatively common egg is the chameleon egg.

It hatches into Chameleons:

An egg that is occasionally used is the macaw egg.

It hatches into Macaws:

Another egg that is occasionally used is the snake egg.

It hatches into Snakes:

The western dragon egg is occasionally used.

It hatches into Western Dragons:

Bat cages are, for the most part, a Halloween special.

While it may look like a bird cage, this cage grows into bats:

Retired

The betta fish bowl is no longer in use.

It hatched into Malk Betta fish:

The koi fish egg is no longer in use.

It hatched into Malk Koi fish:

The Malk pet carrier crate is no longer in use.

It opened up and revealed 4 different Malk species; Wolves, Dogs, Foxes and Cats:

The owl egg is no longer in use.

It hatched into Malk Owls:

Spiders are a bit of a special case. They're technically retired and no longer in use like the rest of the Malk pets, but they're still very occasionally released, mostly in the form of scorpions.

The egg hatched into Malk Spiders:

The Malk dragon egg is no longer in use.

It hatched into Malk Dragons:

Special Cases

One of the more special eggs made by Nick.

It hatches into Nick Horses because everybody knows horses hatch from eggs, right? It once also hatched into Nick Chickens:

The Tess dragon egg is very rarely used. It's so infrequently used that I decided to put them in the special cases category.

It hatched into Tess Dragons:

Presents were mostly used back in the early days of the site, to celebrate staff birthdays.

They opened up to reveal a variety of species including but not limited to Dogs, Sitting Cats and Butterfly Wolves:


Not to be confused with the boxes you adopt new event pets from! In this case you actually adopted the present which then eventually opened up.

The Malk Valentine's Box was used for Valentine's Day 2009.

It opened up to reveal four different Malk outcomes:

In Easter 2019 we got a clutch of 7 different mystery easter eggs:


These 7 eggs hatched into 7 different species that hatch from eggs:

In Easter 2021 we got a clutch of 5 mystery easter eggs:


These eggs hatched into a special version of bunnies:



Note that this is not a new lineart, but a highly edited version of the already existing bunny lineart. The heads are the same!

In the summer event of 2021 we got a new mystery egg:


This egg hatched into 4 different Dimetrodon outcomes:



Note that this is not a new lineart, but a highly edited rat lineart. Notice the shape of the body!

Okay, I actually think this is done and up and running! :D

I added the two first eggs now that they hatched. I put them under "special cases" because bunnies don't usually hatch from eggs on this site and as long as they're a one-off thing they'll stay there.

Updated to include the dimetrodon egg :D
Decided against including the archaeopteryxes as the egg is just a macaw egg and the outcomes are just edited macaws. If the lineart is used again sometime in the future I might include it as a "macaw eggs can also hatch into archies" kinda thing, but it's too soon for that.
