Okay! I noticed that a lot of people have questions about customs here on CS. So, I decided to make a guide to help people and to answer common questions. And because I have the memory of a hamster, I may have forgotten a question or two. PLEASE PM ME if you have a question that you think I should add. And please, no posting, there is no need for this to be bumped.
Let’s begin, shall we?
GENERAL QUESTIONS
#1. What is a custom?
A custom is a CS pet! But it’s not like your general pet, it’s different. Customs are pets that are created by Tess or by another staff member for a specific person. There is only ONE of each pet, and it has specific markings or a look that its owner gives it. They can be based on a fursona or an object, or just a person’s tastes and likes. They have no rarity and are very special and unique.
#2. Why do Tess and her staff make customs?
Originally, Tess had customs created for her staff members as a way of reward for working on her site, or if you made her art. Mods, Artists, and Archivists were given customs as a thank you gift for their work, and other selected members that made her a piece of art were given a custom in exchange.
Things are a bit different now, instead of just as a way of payment, customs are made for friends and rewards. Staff members sometimes make customs for members that they know, or for members that have done something good for the site. Customs have also been given to members that provide a service for CS, other than an artist or a mod. Customs are still given as rewards for staff work, and will continue to be.
#3. How do I get a custom?
As stated above, you can really only get a custom if you are staff, or if you are friends with staff. Sometimes people get customs from just being at the right place at the right time, but this is really rare.

#4. Are customs trade-able?
Yes and no. Customs are basically like regular CS pets, they can be traded and have items added onto them. However, trading a custom is not really a bright idea because the custom was made for you and you are getting rid of it.
When people have duplicates of customs or are planning on terminating their accounts, then they can trade their customs. Otherwise, it isn’t allowed.
It is realllllly annoying when people get trades asking for customs. After reading this don’t think you can go send a million trades. Just because they are tradable doesn’t mean they are. DON’T ASK FOR THEM, and chances are their groups are locked.
Oh well.#5. Why do some people have more than one of their customs?
Some people have duplicates of their customs due to errors being made in the first ones. For example, a CS mod has duplicate customs. This is because there was something up with the first custom, and so they had another one made. Because the owner didn’t delete the error custom, they ended up with two instead of one.
#6. Why can’t everyone have a custom?
It would be fun if everyone could have their own unique pet, I’d love to see it, but if this was the case, don’t you think the staff would go crazy?
#7. I’ve seen some interesting items out there, are they customs?
Chances are, yes. If you found an item that nobody else has, or is unavailable at the store. Some examples of custom items are Moose plushies and Rainbow smoothies. Custom items are given as gifts and prizes, and the same rules apply to them as with regular customs.

FUN QUESTIONS
#1. What do Julie’s symbols on her leg mean?
Okay, everyone asks this on the thread. jiki, which is written in symbols on her leg, means Seasons. It’s Japanese and I think it fits well with her cute little cherry blossom markings. I think it’s cute, don’t you?
#2. Why is Fey larger than other cats?
If you look at her face, you can see piercing markings on Fey. She has earrings and other attire, and they are rather small. Fey’s creator made her larger so that these markings were easier to see, that way you didn’t have your eyes pressed to the screen. ^^
#3. Why does Drama Llama have Cervas’ custom?
Cervas gave Houki to D.L. to take care of/own. They have joint ownership of Houki.
#4. I’ve heard rumors about the UR kitty. Was it really a custom?
Yep. Long ago, Tess made the Black Cat as a custom for a member. But apparently the member was rude and tried to blackmail Tess, so she took it away and made the UR kitty into a real pet.
#5. Who is Taylor and her gorgeous custom Renna?
Taylor is a friend of Tess. She made her Renna as a gift. Taylor is not a registered member on CS, and so Renna has Taylor’s name written on her. She is best known fro her rainbow coloring. SO DON”T TRY TO STEAL IT. We have had some attempted custom robbery…. It wasn’t pretty.
#6. Is Mae part Anglerfish?
Apparently so. Bouquetblu said that Mae is partially based on an anglerfish. How do we know? The little light hanging from her head ^^
#7. Le’Eyre changes forms?????
Yes, Mausoleum’s custom Le’Eyre changes her forms due to seasons. For the winter, she is a butterfly wolf, and for the rest of the year, she is a PPS pup. Pretty cool, right?
#8. I keep seeing these little moose items, what are they and who made them?
Aww, One of my favorite items! I believe they were made by a staff member for all of her staff friends. They are all cute little moose. XD And some of them resemble fursonas.
#9. Why aren’t Tess’s customs up?
She didn’t want them added up on the list, and I am sorry but I can’t really get into detail why.
#10. Where did Cherry's items come from?
Because she is magical, Cherry grew them. O.O No seriously, her items appeared once she hit the pup stage.
#11. What is different about the coloring on Tyr's custom?
Tyr's Tyr is different because Tyr did the coloring herself. Shading, coloring, EVERYTHING. Isn't it aweome?
#12. What is Solfeggio?
Solfeggio is a Lemur created out of the bunny lineart for CS member Solfeggio.
#13. Where is Haruka?
Haruka has been replaced by Niokki's Niokki. She is no longer a custom.
