It's true, charcoal is not a tree species, but it is a state that trees can become. Many trees will be burned but remain standing, a charred black husk stubbornly reaching for the sky. My favorites are the ones that are burned and scarred around the bottom, but survived and are green and growing at the top.
Burned wood is one of my favorite bark textures. Every tree has a story.... If you run your fingers across tree bark, it whispers. Depending on the texture, the whisper is different, rougher, louder, softer, it all depends. Charcoal has a very loud, silky whisper, but you'll come away with black fingers after you hear it!
I try to capture that sound in the 2D design, if I can.
That's absolutely beautiful.
I feel this same way about trees. And even though these dogs are still growing, I think you've done an amazing job!

Everyone's all excited for the bark dogs, and yet here I am all hyped for our constellation horses.
That said, is the first growth really that uncommon? I cannot find anyone with a spare to trade. And it's the only one I'm missing(at the moment).
