Ok. If I didn't know any better, I could have sworn that those items were part of its final outcome. XD Captain Kaycee's dragon pup turned out really nice!

Not all of us who participated are artists. It's okay to point out what you perceive to be flaws and be nit-picky about monthly outcomes, because that's the whole point of CS: the art and the adoptables. This site would just be a forum without them.
That being said, there is a difference in saying 'This dog really isn't for me!' and 'WOW LOOK HOW AWFUL THIS IS'. I believe you should be able to know the difference between the two of them.

Try to be gentle on us, please. Monthly artists do excellent because... well, they're artists! They've honed in their art skills and are amazing; hand-picked by Tess herself! As for myself and the other mods... we were chosen to be on the team for other reasons. Even though we're not the artists, we just wanted to gift you guys with something-- a little part of us. It's absolutely a slap in the face to have someone talk down about your outcome, and it's absolutely hurtful to have someone go on and on about how much they don't like it.

If you cannot say anything nice, do not say anything at all. Even if you aren't a fan of the dog, you can say something polite! People who didn't like my pup could still say nice things about it-- For example: Okay, my edits weren't to peoples' liking, but some people still said the lineart was nice, or vice versa.

Just. Be polite, please. We're people too, and we're going through hardships in life just like the rest of ya. This isn't meant to be a huge, serious thing; it was a fun thing for everyone involved, and always has been just that. Be nice.

I'm really sorry people are saying mean things about your pet... to be honest, it's one of my favorite outcomes! I am absolutely in love with the thick lines used for this pup and I can't get over his ragged, tufty fur. I really can't wait for him to grow up. Don't be discouraged, you did an amazing job.

I agree with Graham and always have with what he just said. This has been stated numerous times, yet it seems that it's ignored and a lot. Whether or not you like the pup doesn't mean you can publicly disrespect the artist or whomever made it. There have been pets I just didn't care for and I've said why. I also said that I have liked the efforts put into the pets I didn't like.

Thus said... Graham... how much longer are we going to have to suffer on waiting for your pup to grow? It's killing me! LOL I am reliving the Ugly Duckling story over and over again. :P

As Graham said - a lot of the staff aren't artists. We participate because we want to have fun. What's NOT fun is seeing people criticize our work in an nonconstructive manner. I'd love to hear ideas about how I could do something better, or a tip. Just telling me you don't like what I've done gives me no reason why, and is a bit rude. We all work hard to make the staff litter, and we all are trying our best.

I love all the outcomes so far and it shows our diversity as a team, and the diversity of different artists. You don't need fancy edits, but some of us try anyways. Holding us to another artist's standard isn't fair - my work will never be as wonderful and lovely as Lilian's. My skills don't like in art, they lie in other places. Should we not participate then, because our art is simply not as good? That's not fair, as the entire litter is about coming together as a team.

If you don't like an outcome - that's fine. Keep it to yourself unless you're willing to maybe add some suggestions and say it nicely.

"I DON'T LIKE THIS" is different than, "Hm, this outcome is not quite my taste, perhaps some changes to xyz might help? I really love the effect they were going for" is much friendlier, and actually helpful for us, than rudely telling us you don't like it.

End of discussion, this doesn't need to continue for any longer. Be polite and respectful.

I'm aware of the page count, but hoping we don't need a new thread, as they should all grow soon... but if we explode, it'll need to be remade of course.

We try to space it out so one adult grows everyday :)

Well.. the end of the month and the time of showing my opinion about grown pets is here.
I won't write about the Moon festival bunnies cause everyone knows that they are super cute.

Image
The ponies are made by Lilian Nightshide, she is one of my favorite artists.
The colors are incredible and i really like the patterns. I also like the PPS even if i'm not PPS fan.
And here is my fav. one:

I really like how different this month butterfly wolves are.
And my fav. is:
Image
If i remember she is Fall wolfie.

Image
Well.. the foxes are pretty new at CS but i would say this month was really good set of them. Blue and Brown great combination, because lot of people here likes the natural colored ones. Me too, but blue is one of my fav. colors and here is mine fav. foxie this month.

I don't know how i'd call this group of pets 'cause it also can be hens or hatchery.
Well... i was really excited when i saw the newborns first time. Black eggs. But they grow into really lovely birds. I am not a fan of this bird kind be the grey and color glowing ones this month are really nice.
My fav. is:

Image
I really like them they remind me Italian food. All the yummy kittens and cats.
It was hard for me to choose one fav. of them so this is one i like, 'cause all the tomatoes on her fur.
Image

Image
I just love them. Their fluffy fur is so cute and all of them have lovely unusual ears. I am a tiny sad that here is not a PPS one.
But I am glad to say i have full set of them <3
My favorite:

What i should say about this year stuff dogs? Yeah, that the grey color is best. And i am really happy that here is dog made by Lilian it was a pleasure to see how looks dog made by her.
The stuff month is one of my fav. times in year {after xmas} but i am still waiting for my favorite pup to grow up. Also i might choose another to be my favorite cause here is still 12 ungrown pups.
Current favorite is here:

Pet's name: Hermanni NFT (Verdana)

I had to say that i love the August horses so if i looks on this months they doesn't looks so good as the Agust for me, but i really like the creative patter they have.
My fav. is the deer one:

You know, at first, I didn't know quite what to think about the grown dragon dog. It was certainly quite different from what I was expecting and it looked...off. Then, I started looking at it from another light; upon better inspection, it looks like a bioluminescent deep sea dragon, with a bit of magic tossed in, with its sleek look and light spots and such. So...I ended up doing a thing.

...She's the long lost cousin of last year's dragon dog that I have!

I agree with this. I'm no staff member, but I am an artist. There is a difference between saying something needs work and just being rude. You can be honest about your opinion, but at least be polite about it and suggest a way to improve. Critique sucks sometimes, but it's how people get better and the least a person could do is remember that.

And I'll be completely honest and say the dragon is not my cup of tea. I personally think the shading could use some texture to show the scales. However, I do like how she did the wings and the markings. But that's just my opinion. I'm not going to criticize people for liking it. I know she worked hard and I'm grateful that she participated. Art takes a lot of time and hard work, believe me I'm an Art major (who totally should not be doing homework right now, actually). I will say again that critique, when done right, helps us all to learn.

... Wow that was a mess of a post. Sorry 'bout that guys.

I'm gonna be devil's advocate and disagree with you both, by pointing something out that you guys seem to be missing here.

If someone doesn't like something they are allowed to say so, yes it is nice to add critique as well but nobody is required to elaborate on why they like something, so why should they have to elaborate on why they dislike something?

There is no reason to be rude mind you for example "THAT'S SO UGLY' is rude, but "i don't like this, it looks weird to me" is not, but both are opinions and you need to respect other's opinions (no matter how rude or mean they may be).

As an Artist (or someone who creates art of any kind) you need to understand that not everyone is going to like your work, some may even hate it. Being an artist (of any kind) requires a thick skin and if you can't take the heat, you need to get out of the kitchen. That's not to say you can't defend your work. The artist is allowed to voice their opinions just as the consumer is, don't be disheartened by rude comments, use them as a way to make you a stronger person and artist.

I actually agree with that (I actually JUST wrote about that on Tumblr) Not everyone will like your work, and that's okay. Sometimes they just aren't ready for it, or they prefer a different style.

Enough, this discussion thread is completely veering off topic. This is not a board to debate about the difference between being rude and giving critique. This discussion can be taken to pm, otherwise it is over right now.
