Incorrect ID pets are pets which were accidentally donated, or somewhat deleted which have been recreated for the owner. The original ID can't be added, as that would risk the pet having the same ID as another, so making the recreated out of a new ID at the time would have resolved that issue. Just that the pet is now released later on, but still shows the date that their litter was up for adoption.

How do I tell if a pet has a messed up ID?

The pet IDs are usually way off compared to its litter mates (so long as they're not re-releases that is)

You can also tell by looking at certain groups. Pets are sorted by ID rather than date, so if you check this group for example, you see a 2009 pet in between some 2016 pets.

I don't think that would risk it having the same ID as another. Once a pet with a certain ID is deleted, if you search that ID it'll say pet not found. I can't say for sure why they don't get their original ID back, but I don't believe that's the case. ^^'

Pet ID's I believe do not decrease once a pet is deleted. I will check it out now and let you know. But if they did decrease, then you gave the incorrect ID pet it's old ID, it would have the same as the pet before which had taken over that ID... I'm not sure that makes sense...

When a pet is deleted, the ID's of pets adopted after it stay the same. So really, I think it's because the ID's are all to do with the date, number, day of release as well as litter. I'm not sure, I think that's something to look into. But I should think it's to do with the fact that you can't really remember a pet ID. If you could I'm sure it'd be altered, but I doubt people write them down. If they did then it's quite obvious that the pet wasn't deleted by accident.

Yeah, I can't say I really understand what you're getting at. Haha, I just know another pet doesn't get the ID of the deleted pet, like you speculated.

I'm sure there's some purpose to it, we just don't know and may never know what that purpose is.

Also your last speculation, I don't think that's it either. If you simply view the trade the pet was originally retrieved in, it'll show what the ID was, but it won't have a picture and I believe it says the pet was deleted or not found or something.

I suppose it's another thing that isn't too important for the game. If Tess and Nick get bored one day, I'm sure they'd be returned to their original ID's. But then again, there are so many incorrect ID pets that it'd be impossible to get the exact correct ID unless the person who 'lost' the pet remembered it.
