It's actually unfair to you by more than that. The '09 dog and your '10 pony are within the 3 month rule, and are a fair swap as far as rarity. However the dogs (especially staff pets) do tend to have better demand than the pony. Based just on date and rarity, none of the other pets are needed except the pony.
