Believe it or not, Shark Dogs have been quite a popular species on DA and other art sites. There were shark dogs who look very similar to Makoatls even before Makoatls were created. And either way this dog is missing a few back fins, compared to the Makoatls, and its little things like that that can make them two totally different species.

They weren't saying that the dog was based off that particular character, they were just saying that they were reminded of it when they saw the pet. ^^
