Was this one already rare? I remember it being uncommon, but maybe I missed the switch.

Believe that one switched from uncommon to rare a while ago. Not sure the exact date but I remember it being a rare.

Finding out the store dragon cats dropped in rarity along with the storgis really puts a damper on me. I overpaid alot for them... Now it will take another 3 or so years before I recoup my losses... >.<

I'd noticed the full grown store dragons from 2014 went from a very rare to a rare. Same with some of the store corgis. Don't they usually go back and forth? That's what I had noticed.

the full-grown store tigers from 2016 also went rare :s how did that happen? does it mean a heap of unactive accounts with those pets became active again?

yes it's the fact a bunch of active users who own these pets came online

A pets rarity factors in how many of a pet is in circulation too. So either a lot of players with those store pets came back to CS after a hiatus or players who hoarded them came back or possibly traded the hoard ^^
