Does anyone else feel like Demand is killing CS?

I think that the aesthetically prettier pets have high demand because they’re ... well, cute. Like the dragon pps is super cute ! And a lot of people would agree with that (not all but most) and that’s why the demand has skyrocketed ... because it’s a really cute pet and also happens to be a store pet, so aka not easy to find and obtain. Economies have demand and CS is a little miniature economy. Demand fluctuates. Idk. Random thoughts lol

Agree! I wanted it cause it's cute, but not only that, but know it's demand will go up over the years. I'm just glad I got it for a decent trade this time lol.

Yeah exactly ! And if people are willing to overpay hugely for it then that’s how it’s gonna be. And eventually the hype will die down and move to a different pet. It’s a natural thing

I don’t think there’s anything necessarily wrong with complaining about a trade system a majority of people don’t benefit from. People argue that you need to work hard to get certain pets, which I agree you should, it’s a game after all, there needs to be challenge. However, as discussed there’s two primary play styles: Playing for value and playing for preference. If you’re a player that simply likes the design of a certain pet, personally I think it shouldn’t take years of someone’s life just to get a pet they’ve wanted. If someone’s actively trying it should take a two years tops, with demand it’s getting ridiculous. Not only that, for newer players it’ll be practically impossible to achieve certain goals, or take an unnecessarily long amount of time, I agree we all want to get the most out of out pets, the problem is not everyone wants to be a top player with hoards of amazing pets, some people just want a few cute sparkle dogs. Both ideas of playing are fine, I just think one side shouldn’t have more power over the other when it comes to trading and people shouldn’t be scared to trade with each other. I feel like I just spewed nonsense, especially as a “nobody” player

Perhaps my perspective will change as I’d consider myself still relatively new, and I’m a fairly lax player.

Honestly the observations and opinions being brought up in the thread aren’t just website specific, I think it’s just another aspect of being human. Because of this, I don’t think this is much of a “fixable” problem at all, hence why conversations like these always end up going in circles.

True! I just believe in hard work on this site is what makes it enjoyable. Within 3 years of playing I had a UR Tiger, Dogtag, BEG, Rainbow Mane, and a Patchwork. With no hand outs. Which, I did play obsessively LOL, but I set goals and...achieved them and it wasn't really that hard. Even with the List still in place, so really, trading back then was harder. People NOW will completely trade off the List, back then...that wasn'teven really a thing unless you were really offering BULK older rares and VRs. I think new people trading with achievements now have it easier lol.

Demand IS crazy now, I won't deny that. I just have a growing Toxic pup plus '09 VRs and Advent ex-Lists for the Dragoncat PPS. In 2014, I would have got that with a couple true date '09 rares LOL.

Wow that’s impressive!! I might need to cop some tips cause I don’t see myself getting an eat me drink me set or some other dreamies anytime soon I think you put it perfectly, you love the challenge and that’s amazing! I simply think there’s a disconnect between difference in play style causing discussions like this.

I kinda disagree with people who despised the demand or think it is absurd.
Tbh, demand is easy to understand. Well, ok, maybe the raven dog is not as rare as any omgsrs. However, even if there is alot, very few people actually WANTS to trade their raven dog cause they liked the pet and don't wanna get rid of it.
That's what made it worth nons. (which we now call 'demand')

I kinda agree. People are really needlessly increasing rarity of pets because they are so "beloved". This makes it near to impossible for anyone to get these pets unless they themselves are super rare.

I just want to give a few cents on this issue. I’ve read through the thread and I think good points have been brought up all round.

However what I want to say is I think we need to isolate store pets from regular pets. Store pets aren’t being rereleased which is fine, they were bought with real money, they shouldn’t be released again.

Getting all of the pets that were released monthly or as unreleased could be in one sense viewed as the main game. It’s supposed to be an achievable goal by all. Which it can be.

The store pet gathering is the side goal. It’s completely fine to collect them but it’s not really the main quest. Not everyone gets to complete this one. It’s impossible due to the fact of that there will never be enough skelebuns to go around. That’s ok. I think we need to accept this.

My point is store pet demand should be more justified. I know it can be frustrating seeing a dragon cat go for a an ex main list but there is a limited amount. The demand is justified. I know it seems crazy but it’s not coming back they are limited, it’s fine to want it. It’s fine to try and collect it. However as the years go by some of the pets will just be out of the grasp of new players and older players. That’s ok we can still complete the game without the side quest.

In 2015 i got the august pps lion on dec 18th, and someone traded me the pps dragoncat for it. I traded the pps dragon cat away for some really bad rare since i was new and didn’t understand, and since i understood my mistake it’s been my cs goal to get those two pets back, mainly the pps dragoncat since i got an absolutely terrible deal with her. But with the demand of it being so different between players, it’s so hard to trade for it. I’m awful at remembering things, so remembering it’s worth in the first place is so difficult! Games like cs and animal jam have always been a challenge for me due to demand and things like that, but cs was easier for me with the list to follow. Ever since the list was discontinued things have gotten so much harder for me, nobody follows it anymore and i have no clue what’s fair and what’s not anymore. It’s been making me really sad because i feel like with every trade i make i get further from my goal
