i've been using the space theme ever since it came out. i love space. also it's dark so it's nice on the eyes. but also spacey.

Back in Christmas 2008, were all the pets Common/Very Common/Uncommon before they became lists and VRs?

Pet's rarities weren't visibly displayed on their profiles until October 2009. That means back in 2008 when the Advents came out, we didn't actually have any "official" rankings by which to see how rare pets are. People put some effort into comparing pet availability/numbers on their own, and that's how we already knew that, for example, the Sunjewel was rarer than its littermates.
I wasn't really big into trading in 2008-2009, but I remember that it was super easy to pick up Advents from the Pound. The "pre-July dogs" (and, separately, the rats) were released on several different days (though with an adoption limit of 2? IIRC? each time), so each person got plenty of them - though of course, swapping to get the right outcomes was often needed :'D It is the small adoption limit that made them quickly become more valuable as time went on, with how fast the userbase grew.

Prior to Christmas, July and August pets were regarded as the most valuable overall (of course, exceptions like the Joker existed), with September following with a noticeable gap, then October & November with another big gap. It's to be kept in mind that the adoption limit was not added to the site until some way into November. We didn't have as many users in July and August as we had later in the year (the site grew popular at such a fast rate, wow!), so it didn't affect the early pets as much, but since it was possible to adopt without limit all October and several days of November, those pets were (depending on outcome, of course!) generally more plentiful than the Advents, since those were already limited - and to small numbers, too!

We also didn't have the account system to keep pets until September, and there are large numbers of pets adopted before that which were never transferred to an account. Those off-account pets will never be factored into rarity and were/are not tradeable, so they were irrelevant to the economy.

Pets that I personally remember to have been regarded as rare back then already are the Sunjewel, Moonswirl, Dogtag, July PPS, Joker, Royal Bobtail. The Watermelon dog was also noticeably rarer than its littermates? And, of course, the UR pets. Oh the UR pets. The Green-fronted Holly and the Angel Dog were immediately regarded as more rare, too.

Pfffft I'd be terrible at running a site on my own. It'd be doomed from the start. I don't have any "career goals" on CS aside from staying a GH, let alone starting up a site :'D

ZEL are my boyfriend's OCs, I'd find it very strange if people IRL started addressing me as such. I don't think I'd accept it as a real life nickname, it would feel too odd.
But my old username, Amazilion, brought me the nickname Ama, which I now vastly prefer over my birth name.

ON THE SUBJECT OF GOOD ADVICE:
1. Don't trade stuff. Like, wait. For at least 4 months. I made regrettable choices in my first 6 months; do not do what I did.
2. Join some sort of discussion topic or board. You'll make friends and learn a lot.
3. Develop your skills! Here you have an excellent safe space to learn and grow, Use it!
4. Follow the rules. Of course.

Honestly, nobody in real life uses my username. I think if they did, I'd probably respond. If CS ever went to a convention again (cough cough Tess let's make it happen pls) I think I'd get thoroughly confused.

I actually believed in santa until I was 11... In fact when I was 10 I was obsessed with flying machines and had a plan to build one, and my idea for getting the parts I needed for it was asking Santa for them XD. That's how much I believed in him, hahaha.
