I have to take a look through my pets now, I must say, I'm pretty impressed by the 2014 staff litter.. So far
I hope this months pets don't make me disappointed, they look amazing so far.

A nursery rhyme significantly closer to the modern cliché Valentine's Day poem can be found in Gammer Gurton's Garland, a 1784 collection of English nursery rhymes:

The rose is red, the violet's blue,
The honey's sweet, and so are you.
Thou are my love and I am thine,
I drew thee to my Valentine,
The lot was cast and then I drew,
And Fortune said it shou'd be you.

It says "be" next to it, and has hearts and roses all over it. Come on, it has to be related to valentines! XD

Victor Hugo was likely familiar with Spenser, but may not have known the English nursery rhyme when, in 1862, he published the novel Les Misérables. Hugo was a poet as well as a novelist, and within the text of the novel are many songs. One sung by the character, Fantine, contains this refrain, in the 1862 English translation:

We will buy very pretty things
A-walking through the faubourgs.
Violets are blue, roses are red,
Violets are blue, I love my loves.

The last two lines in the original French are:

Les bleuets sont bleus, les roses sont roses,
Les bleuets sont bleus, j'aime mes amours.

(Les Misérables, Fantine, Book Seven, Chapter Six)

The writing reminds me a lot of Shakespeare's quote "to be or not to be".... That has to do with poetry! So I'm going to have to agree and guess this one is Jadeghost's!

So... Vampiric's hint was "All these eyes close, others open." I was thinking... maybe the skull pup? When people die, their eyes are closed before burial. Thus, the skull. But the eyes of their spirits/ghosts open as they remove themselves from their physical bodies and go do whatever happens in the afterlife.

I dunno... I might have missed something on this thread, so if I have, just ignore my ramblings.

No, the staff don't use Oekaki, then people could see their pups by looking in their galleries.

The staff use offline drawing/painting programs, such as Paint Tool SAI, FireAlpaca, MSPaint, GIMP, and others like them.
