"Eragon, my beloved, I must tell you." "What my queen?" The young boy replied. "My kingdom needs me." The beautiful princess said quietly. "But, Goldie, that means-" "I know. They will not allow us. But, I will never give up. Fate brought us together once, it'll do it again." "Princess Light, if this be our last sight of each other, I must tell you this: You are my sunshine. Not his, not hers, but mine. Be strong. For both us." And with those final words, the young fairy princess kissed her lover one last time and strode off, disappearing into the new morning. Eragon, his heart shattered and torn into a million tiny pieces, looked down into his pocket, a small case. He opened it, revealing a diamond ring, and etched into the gold ring was the words he couldn't speak: Golden Light, free my soul, heal my heart. Love me. Forever. He sluggishly walked down the now empty cottage singing in his unforgettable voice, his final love song.

Shadows Unbroken ------------------ Words Unspoken

Shadows Unbroken and Words Unspoken are two of the countless sad spirits. Shadows Unbroken's job is to make sure there is always some darkness in the world. For without it, there would be no such thing as dark... thus no such thing as light. The closer you get to light, the longer your shadow becomes. To make sure Shadows Unbroken's job was carried out, the king of Spirits took away his pupils, so he could no longer see. For the king knew, if Shadows Unbroken were to see the light, he would never want to see darkness again.
Words Unspoken's job was to keep all secrets. To make sure she did this, the king took away her mouth.

One day Shadows Unbroken was talking to Words Unspoken.

"What is it like?" asked Shadows Unbroken. "To see light?"

Words Unspoken just stared at Shadows Unbroken.

Shadows Unbroken sighed.

"You're probably wondering what it's like to talk."

He paused.

"It's wonderful," he stated simply. "And I think it's quite unfair you are deprived of such a blessing."


They agreed it was very unfair for the king to take away their natural born rights. And so the next day the marched right up to the king to demand they got them back.

Instead of getting mad at the two clueless spirits, the king agreed to let Shadows Unbroken have his vision back and Words Unspoken have her mouth back, sure they would learn their lesson that way.

Sure enough, Shadows Unbroken became entranced with the light, and no longer wanted to be a part of darkness again.

Words Unspoken admitted the secrets of others, spilling darkness into the world.

Thus, the two somehow switched places. Shadows Unbroken added light to the world, while Words Unspoken added darkness. They maintained balance to this day, and for all days to come. The closer you get to light, the longer your shadow becomes.

They all say that I should just give up. That I should stop coming every day to fix up the grass in your nest, to make sure it's nice and cozy and warm for you. They say that you'll never hatch. Your brothers and sisters all hatched together, so they say that you're too late. They say that you died in there. 

Died before you ever had a chance to live.

But I won't listen to them. I won't give up on you. I will wait with you until the day you hatch. Because you will hatch someday, I'm sure of it. 

And when that day comes, you will be the most beautiful baby bird that ever lived."
