Does the pet on their side have any special demand? I usually only trade my store pets for other store pets but I was wondering the demand and value of their pet?

yes! a 2012 uncommon equals two 2013 uncommons, plus they added some more pets because malks in general (betas especially) sometimes have more demand. I would say this is pretty fair for both sides.
