It was like that for the Grinners and Cake Dogs, so I've heard. I feel sorry for the people who finally got one to trade up just as the demand for them plummeted.

I remember when I joined, and then about December 2011 again, when Grinners were the big thing and all I saw were hoarders asking for them and auctions flying about. I was so surprised to learn that the demand had next to disappeared D:

Now I feel nostalgic Spotted tribals used to be in enormous demand back in 08 and 09 (I swear every other user and their mom wanted one); when I came back from hiatus in mid 2011, I was shocked to learn that their demand had disappeared xD

And I'm here wondering if Joker and BA demands will ever go down...?

It really hasn't actually. People just started saying that it has so it has. Grinners have perfectly fine demand. It's just some weird rumor that they don't. I've never had any trouble trading grinners up or down. I seriously don't get what the issue is.
Sorbets are the same way. They have perfectly fine demand but people have gotten it into their heads that they don't.

Like I said, that's only what I've heard. I wasn't a user when this whole thing happened, so I don't know from experience, only from what other users say.

For as long as I've been here Jokers and BAs have always been in high demand, but when I joined I remember there being a lot more auctions and threads offering a Joker while now it's hard to find. Maybe eventually they will somehow become "unlocked" and there will be more in circulation?

It's not like the speckled rat where very few people want it or will pay fairly for it because there isn't really anyone out there who wants them to keep that doesn't already have one. :)

As for BAs: I remember when they were just rares, and even then the demand was terrible. Then people started hoarding them, and locking them up, so their were less in circulation. That was when it spiked and never went back down, really.

I'll be glad when the Grinner rumour dies. Grinners are actually one of the easiest September list pets to trade off in my experience. Last year I had none spare, and I ended up with about 5 different ones at one stage but traded the lot of them off individually, for a fair price, with ease - they are on a lot of peoples' wishlists. Grinners are also a great entry to the September list.

Re the speckled rat, when I got one from an art commission it took me months to trade it off, but I managed to find an individual looking for one that would pay fair (then had to play swapsies until I got the one they wanted). It's a shame rats have such low demand, they are rather cute pets.

I was lucky that a generous trader offered me a Purple Batdog straight out for my Dark Pawprint rat (didn't want any compensation for the line shift on the September List). If I didn't have so many valuable dream pets I'm vying for I would gladly trade for rats, I like rats ^^

This goes along with how people assume that affordability is somehow equal to demand. It took me ages to trade down my CEG. It wasn't because it didn't have demand - LOTS of people wanted it - it was because no one could afford it. That's all. People think that if you can't trade a pet in less than a week it has no demand.

Ahhh, to be fair Kyar, you are a well known and highly liked CS user and people are more likely to trade with you.

- I bump my trading thread constantly when many people are online.
- I've made my trading rules clear and polite (I believe).
- My trading thread is in my signature.
- I send out about twenty of so trades a day, making sure I follow people's rules.
- I've unlocked a whole bunch of groups that I am very reluctant to trade.
- I offer C$ for older pets I'm missing on my wishlist.
- I have the new store pets.
- I have an Angel Advent and two punk dogs.

...Yet

I never manage to get what I want (apart from my easy hoards, which even lately I've been frustrated by because even when I offer a fair swap or overpay, the other user changes it to even more overpay).

So is it any wonder we seem to think there is no demand for certain pets?

It's frustrating to be unknown and distrusted
