(Sorry I've been away; I had a rough week >< But I opened the curtains to find SNOW this morning, sadly-- so here's a new story for you guys, based on that. They're humans, too, by the way.)

My eyes snapped open. It was very dark.

I couldn't remember what had happened right away, but as I sat up and tried to look around, I remembered a sense of panic and fright, someone screaming my name... it was all very messy and chaotic in my memory. Turning my head around, I noticed a faint white light.

"Hello?" I called, but the only answer was silence. And cold. It was very cold, wherever I was. I stood up and walked toward the light, arms outstretched to ensure that I wouldn't bump into anything, and eventually came to a door of a translucent, glassy material. This picked at my brain, but I couldn't recall where I'd seen it before. I turned the knob, and with a great deal more force than I expected, I shoved it open, and stepped out into an intense bright light, blinking.

What I saw did not help to refresh my memory.

Everything was still. There was not a single sound. I could see nothing but black and white in any direction. The snow covered my entire world, hiding everything away in its icy shroud. Nothing could be seen between the trees, not even a surrounding trail or road; it was similar to the visibility on a foggy day. It was a sight that took your breath away at its beauty, but also left you terrified. To me, it seemed that time had stopped, that everything was frozen solid and would never move again. I looked up. Even the sky was a pale, pale, gray.

I took a step out into the white sea, testing it. I sunk down, almost up to my waist, and cursed under my breath. Trekking through this would be exhausting, but I couldn't stay here-- wherever I was-- and I couldn't come back. With a deep, tired breath, I wrapped my arms around myself and headed back inside, hoping to find some things to bring with me.

I awoke on a boat. It was dark, and the boat wasn't very comfortable. Frightened as to where I was, I stared down into the water, yawned, and quietly glanced up at the moon. It hung high, stars clinging to the night sky. I thought I was alone, but quite to my relief, I wasn't. I stared at the other end of the boat as a shadow of a boy lay clutched in my vision. He, obviously not that fluffy, had a blanket over himself, which wrapped him like a cocoon. It was obviously night, and we were in the middle of nowhere. I suspected it was just him, being cold and such. Come to think of it was pretty cold. Starting to shiver, I yawned again and tiredly let my head fall back. I was clutching my knees for warmth, as they lay against my chest, but it didn't help at all. The boy at the other end of the boat turned around, as I opened my eyes a bit, but he didn't notice. He stepped closer and I got a better look at his face; to my relief, it was him; not some creeper. He glanced at me sweetly and removed the blanket from his shoulders. I closed my eyes just in case he noticed I was awake, and he obviously noticed me shivering. I opened my eyes just a slit, just to see him smiling at me, possibly thinking it was cute how I was shivering, but I couldn't be sure; im not a mind reader. He, a few seconds before removing the blanket, set it overtop of me and went back to his side. I waited a few minutes and almost fell asleep until I was awoken more to the sound of his chattering teeth. The wind picked up, and it was even colder now, so I suspected he must be really freezing. I opened my eyes, faking like I just woke up, and sat up quietly, not to scare him. "Aren't you cold?" I said quietly. He turned, face brightly lit. "Oh. Your awake. Uh..." He glanced down. "Yeah. It's pretty cold, but im alright." Then I myself glanced down, at the blanket. Smiling, I said, "Well, if your cold, we could share the blanket. It's pretty big, big enough for two, that is." He smiled back dimly and nodded, "Yeah. That'd be nice." I lifted the blanket as he got up and stepped under it. A few minutes later, we both weirdly opened our eyes at the exact same time and were then staring at eachother. I smiled and laughed sheepishly as he did the same afterwards. We stared for another moment and smiled and laughed again, the same sheepish tone, and he pulled in. Who was I to resist? The kiss felt like heaven. His lips felt like a cloud. He was perfect, perfect for me. And I him. This whole world was now heaven. I couldn't pull away. I flashed back to him; his sparkling eyes, even in dark, his beautiful smile, his cute laugh, his sweet glare.
I couldn't think of anyone else but him. Everything else just left my mind.


I didn't even know how we got here, but I didn't care.

There wasn't much to find inside the building I had woken up in. I did manage to find some snowgear and a nice matching set of hat and mittens, as well as a blanket and a hiking backpack. There was some food in a cupboard, and I grabbed as much as I could carry. I wasn't really quite sure of what else to grab or where to find it even; there was nobody else in the house and I didn't know whose it was. So I just took what I could, and left out into that empty, wintery world, in search of someone who might be able to tell me what had happened here.

Luckily, the snow was very light and fluffy, so it was not as difficult to move through as it could have been. However, that did mean that I wouldn't be able to form any sort of shelter out of it if I needed to. I shook my head to clear it from all these thoughts; I didn't know why I was thinking them, but I suppose it was just because I had no memories of any events of my life at that point, and survival was the only thing I had to think about. I couldn't even remember if I had a family, or parents, or any friends. Everything else in my mind seemed very clear-- I knew that people had families and friends and knew other people, but I couldn't think whether I did or not. It was all very troubling for me, so I decided to leave it alone.

I walked along a single path that separated the enormous tall trees into two identical sides, and I continued along that path all through the day. Occasionally, I would call out a meek, "Hello?" but no one answered. No bird, no squirrel, no rabbit or deer or human, or anything else that might live in such a vast forest as this.

As the day grew old, the snow began to turn a faded blue, and my legs were worn and weary from shoving the snow out of my way. I moved over to the edge of the path and slumped down against a tree, kicking the snow out of my way. I shrugged the backpack off and dug around in it for something that looked appetizing. I couldn't remember what foods I liked.

I came across what I recognized as bread, and decided that would do. Carefully removing it from the plastic, I tore off a decent chunk and dug in. "Hmm. Bread's good," I said to myself through a full mouth, wrapping the rest of the bread back up in its packaging.

Across the path from me, something big fell out out of a tree with a rumbling shower of falling snow.
