dont get me wrong i love to grab regular monthly cuties too, but the pound is practically one of the only ways for new players such as yourself to start collecting a backlog of rare pets to use for trading (looking through my rares group rn about half of them are from the pound) as well as older pets!!

i think maintaining the pound so that still continues to be that for people is important to keeping the site accessible (since high value trading is absolutely the big selling point of cs) which is a big reason why people have been concerned about the rarity drop :]

Also, I don't know if we have any numbers from pound odds before the rarity overhaul happened (and I'm not sure if anyone ever figured out exactly what percentage of pets went up to rare+ after the overhaul), but I think that's a big part of why we're feeling the impact. Pre-overhaul, yeah it was tough to get rares+ in the pound. I got maybe one a month or so, unless I was on a real lucky streak. Post-overhaul, it was way more frequent for me to get rare+ pets. It's not just that the pound is low on rares, it's that it's even low on rares with the new rarity system, that was meant to balance things a bit more. If we pretended these pets had the old rarity labels on them, I feel like it's as if there's maybe 5 "pre-overhaul, originally rare" pets each opening. Again, I don't have any of these numbers to prove that, but it's what it feels like

What I mean by this is: have you considered hiring a few more artists to make Pound-exclusive pets? I'm not necessarily saying more UR/OMGSR-level of pets. It could be a range between omgsc-omgsr. These pets would only be obtainable through Pound. They could be added to help balance what the Pound is missing at any given point. Considering that these would be exclusive for Pound, I think it would generate enough hype for people to be overall satisfied, because there would be a bigger abundance of more desired pets. People would care about that omgsc Pound-exclusive pet, not just rare+ pets.

i'm team "temporary rareless / common only pound" rather than temporarily closing it and just having the l&f.

a. not sure if this is a me problem or a common problem, but there's a lot of decidedly not rare pets i've missed that i'd love to collect, but i often end up forsaking them when they appear in the pound in favour of something that looks like it might be a rare. and often i either misunderstand and get an uncommon w/ a design i don't really like as a result, or miss both. a rareless pound sounds quite exciting in this regard ahaha

b. people have mentioned that the pound is a big reason users visit cs, so if it closes, especially if it's for an uncertain amount of time, there's the risk of users leaving and not coming back. ofc there's also this risk with a rareless pound, but i assume (at least based on the majority of trading rules i've interacted with) that, in general, there's more demand for common pets with good designs than there is for items, no?

Throwing my two cents in here. I’m very much in favor of temporarily having pounds with no rare+ in them. There are so many lower rarity pets worth grabbing and it would (hopefully) discourage some of the possible botting going on until things are sorted out. I would be very disappointed to have pound be completely closed, and I feel like this would be a lovely compromise.

Also in favor of the cooldown being longer. The previously mentioned 12 hours sounds reasonable to me, personally. Or being able to adopt only 1-2 pets per CS Rollover.

Not at all in favor of pound-exclusive pets. It sounds fun and interesting at first glance, but has so many potential problems. I don’t think it would be worth it.

Would obviously have to have some restrictions so people don’t just create accounts to get better pets, but I feel like that would be very beneficial to them. I can’t be sure, but I feel like attempting to cheat this system might be more obvious for staff and mods to notice and resolve.

While it sounds nice on paper, my main critique is what how long would someone be considered a newbie? 3 Months? 6 Months? A year? That also doesn't include returning players who by all means could benefit from said pound, especially the ones who didn't really play for that long. I'd also be worried about ninja trading spiking up because of it.

As far as the newbies go I feel it'd be best to leave that to independent user pounds as they're a dime a dozen & the user can make the final call on what they deem a newbie.

Also in regards to the pound exclusive idea: please no! That'd just clog up the pound even more by having more people hoping to snatch them up.

might be an unpopular opinion, but we could go back to the adopting once every 24 hours rule. at least until the rarities even back out and the odds/distribution is more even.

and it could be like 24 hours for L&F and pound or just the pound. I'm sure there are an over abundance of items. more-so than pets at least.
