Well mother's protect their babies when they are inside them. They are unique because they mother and baby. You can tell them apart because babies genetically share traits with their parents

....oh my god, I love this pet! It will be truly unique if the 'second stage' is a 'grown' dog and the final stage is a PPS. I really hope that happens, it would be such a cool twist!
