How long ago was this pet turned rare? because I could've sworn it was uncommon a few days ago.

It turned rare awhile ago. ;3 Check the Rarity Changes Archive.

Yup; I got the pet in a trade about 8 months ago and it was rare. ^^ But I remembered it as being an uncommon. According to the Rarity Changes Archive, it turned rare in March, earlier this year. :3

I don't know about the yellow one, but I do know for sure that the white rat was definitely just a rare before recently.
As well, it's other outcome became a very rare too.
I think they used to be very rare a long time ago, but then they went back down to rare, and they just became very rare again. :3
I could be wrong about the first part, though. >.<

Yes, I know that the two outcomes are confusing, but I checked my pets and it was already labelled as VR. And I don't go through the rarities every week, so it must've been VR for quite some time.

Wow, does anyone think this will be a rare outcome? GUPPS for New Years have always been rarer, but this one seemed a little extreme considering what I got offered :3

I'm doubtful, the 2011 GUPPS is still uncommon..

Keep in mind all special outcomes have insane demand when they first show up.

Ever since early 2012, demand for "rarer" outcomes has spiked up tremendously for whatever reason xD people now think that is it perfectly normal to offer ridiculous overpay for rarer outcomes xD (lynx PPS, UR butterdog from April Fool's Day, the pintaloosa from arch, the valentine's day EPPS, the rudolph PPS, the July Lioness, August Lion PPS, the uncommon cat from September, the dark present/bow/gift butterwolf from this past advent (made by Chia)...
