(After reading Lillian's post about her dragon litter, I'm looking forward to them even more. September marked one full year since I lost my Cane Corso, Frank. He was my baby. I raised him, and he was only five. It was not his time, but epilepsy took him anyway.)

I really like tourmaline, but am I the only one super sad it's not opal?

I was hoping for opal myself, but opal is really difficult to use as a gemstone for jewelry because of how soft and easily damaged it is; it's not a crystalline solid like diamond/sapphire/etc, so it can't be cut like one. (Opal jewelry is mainly cabochons, which are shaped and polished as opposed to faceted and often affixed to a sturdier, dark-colored backing.) Given the cut and faceted bonus gems that come with the full set every month, and given that we've already seen a soft birthstone replaced by a crystalline alternative (June's is usually pearl, but the June set is alexandrite), it makes sense we'd get a crystal for this set too.

Looking ahead, all of the above implies December's set may be tanzanite instead of turquoise.

I’m pretty sure the gem for December will be blue topaz! So far, the gem sets have aligned with the April 2020 Gem foxes, so if the trend continues, the December gemstone set should be blue topaz!

Ohhh so many newborns this month that look super promising, I'm awake I am looking.


Every time we get equine store pets is a good time for me :)
This outcome made me think of the pokemon dragapult bc of the colours, but hey, that's not a complaint by far, it's a super pretty palette :3c
My favourite has got to be the bat-winged one, though!


Seeing one of the images load slower than the rest and internally cheering because that means I got the PPS haha
The rats are definitely my fave of the newborns right now, gorgeous little fellas


Very much looking forward to hoarding a third generation of one of my fav dog litters
They're guaranteed to be absolutely gorgeous, I know it!


And of course, I will /always/ be intrigued when feathers are involved :)

That's... definitely an interesting comparison.
Thanks everyone for the kind words, things like this always keep me coming back to CS. I nicknamed these the Heartache Litter, if you're curious. We will see what that means for the designs in due time.

I did consider that, and went back to check if Yağmur was the artist of that litter. She is not, so while the birthstone litter is a helpful guide (which you're probably right about tbh) I'm still holding out hope for a deviation. Plus blue topaz is so similar to aquamarine that it might not be visually distinct enough, as tiny as those items are. Granted, the same could be said of tanzanite, amethyst, and alexandrite...

Well, we'll find out soon enough!
