I really wish more people running auctions would skim this thread and see all the often repeated problems people have with most auctions.

1. It's not "Might be for auction", it's not "Want to see what I can get for it". That's called trading or visiting the "What is this pet worth?" thread. An Auction is when you plan to get rid of it for the best offer. So man up and either be serious about it, or don't bother wasting everyone's time with your indecision.

2. Only auction it if you mean to accept bids that may not be that Mystical Perfect Exchange of Pets you have in your head. If you know EXACTLY what you want... just make a trade thread, say "Trading Joker for Red Toxic", and stop wasting people's time.

3. No, you will not get a zebra for your apple. Nor will you get it for your BMD. Nor will you get it for newborns from this month. If you want to post autowins, go to the Fair Trade thread and ask what a decent autowin for Fluffy the Rotted Fruit would be. Usually folks can help you work out something that is enough of a mild overpay to make it a worthwhile autowin, while making it not so ludicrous that everyone on this thread is just DYING to post your crazy "But I can dream!?!!!" notions here. Stop wasting everyone's time. (Seeing a trend here? Good.) It's an AUCTION. Not your opportunity to hope someone who just accidentally slammed their head in a car door will be confused enough to give you a Joker for your Raven store dog.

4. It bears repeating. The auction is not the place for desert mirage dreams of people giving you a Jewelry Sun for your Rainbow Draft. Yes you can dream. In your bed. At night. An auction is not the place for it.

Looking at most auctions lately makes me feel like ramming my head into my desk till I'm unconscious to make the bad images stop. >.< We really need to just organize a total boycott till people get it together in a sensible fashion. ;)

End rant. *pant*

So, I'm now entering auctions at random just to see if I can actually participate in a successful one. Lo and behold! I offer an 08 pumpkin dog as a bid for an 08 haloween cat. I figure it's a good starting bid, right?

The host of the auction now has the audacity to send me a trade demanding what they want instead of just accepting what I bid.

HOW INCONSIDERATE ARE THESE PEOPLE THAT THEY DEMAND THINGS AFTER I OFFER THEM WHAT I WANT TO BID?!

Here's the trade they sent me with the message "U can have them for these and nothing else :D":
Image

Okay... 1. I'm not interested in the pink dog
2. Like hell if I'm going to give away all my advents for a dog I already have + the boar pup that I paid an Aug 08 for.

I edited it, but they canceled with the message of: "Well the cat is worth alot and you know that so that trade or nothing and buy edit i guess your pulling out of my auction"

So... I'm pulling out of your auction because you decided you'd take my good pets? Riiiiiiiggght. I REALLY wish I could report people for this. Why auction if you're just going to be a jerk to your bidders?

Seriously, has anyone ever been in a good auction? Anyone?

I have, once. With some help from a few friends, I managed to win my Green Toxic.

That trade you posted was horrible, though o_o

I was just looking at one auction and it was horrible!!!!

People were bidding things and they were saying no way i don't want those pets bid not accepted. Another person posted saying that they traded away one of the pets they were bidding and the auctioner said

You don't have anything else i want :/

thats the whole point of an auction!!!! to see who gives the best pets not which the only pets you like are being bided.

Lately.... like in the last year... I have seen almost nothing even worth considering entering.

Terrible attitudes, like the above post about someone trying to extort pets that weren't offered, ridiculous auto-wins, and auctions that last months. All of them contrive to ruin auctions for me.

People really need to rethink the way they do auctions.

What the hell is the point of having a Quantity over Quality auction?
Has that ever worked out for anyone?
People bid the smallest amount possible, even though I've said "If the winning bid is too small, I wont trade my dog."
Because yes, I'm totally going to trade my VR Red Android for 9 common Pistachio Dogs.

Well, you'll have to get more if you want to bid. :3

And what's the point in telling me you only have 5 of the dog when the highest bid is nine so far? Honestly, I'm not going to say "aww i fel so bd 4 u      i wll tke ur 5 dgs nd u cn hv te vr dog."

It's not going to happen. I work hard to get the pets that I have, and no self-pity party is going to convince me to cut you a break when you truly don't deserve it.

Actually, I ran a couple of quantity over quality auctions in the past. I wasn't looking for specific hoard pets though, just trying to boost my trade fodder a bit and my love of duplicates and mass quantities of pets to hide under ^_^ It was fun and I was really happy with the end results each time. But it's not something that works for everything. And the last one I ran just sorta got on my nerves and got forgotten about. D: I don't think I'll do that again any time soon. (I would love to find one though to enter and maybe get rid of some of my extras now that I'm not really looking for anything any more )

You'd be surprised what people are willing to pay in a Quantity over Quality auction for a pet they really want. *nudges my Rose Dog* The person auctioning off him got 1000+ pets - I bid 600+ pets, and someone else bumped up my offer with 400+ pets. But that may just be because the auctioneer was looking for any/all pets. It's probably harder to get such large bids when you're asking for specific pets; but just be patient. I'm sure someone who wants the pet enough will be willing to put in the effort.
