Eh. I've been scammed like that before. The auction owner decided to send me a 'helpful' PM saying that I had been outbid and that I needed to add a red rose dog to a Toxic I offered for a Joker. (Yes I was overpaying at the time.)
Looked at the auction to find not a soul was in the auction except me. I went ahead and canceled my entire bid since they had someone offering soooo much that they had outbid me

Ho hum... the auction owner still has the joker to this day. Guess that wonderful person that outbid me got their dog
Then you've got those guys that decide to just ignore the current auction they are running and make a new thread offering the same dog just because they want to see if someone will overpay. Not just a fair trade. Overpay.
Edit: Oh look! Big surprise! I actually participate in an auction and it goes sour FAST!
I offer a number of pets and $200CS in an auction. The auction holder in their "infinite" wisdom decides that screw it! They'll make their own offer!
Now right under my name, not only am I offering pets from my auction folder that I carefully laid out, but now the offer is $300, unlimited art and $30 in offsite currency!
Deciding to at first give them the benefit of the doubt, I quote my own posts telling them exactly what I offered. Surely they have me confused with someone else?
THEN they send me a trade with the pet for auction. Thinking I won, I add all the pets from my auction folder and instruct them on sending me a PM with the items they want from the store.
They send it back asking "Do you have any more very rares?"
-_- Seriously? Okay, again, gave them the benefit of the doubt and my patience telling them they can look through my trade folders if they'd rather other pets. If the trade is not more than what my current bid was, I don't see why I shouldn't trade. After all, I have a number of old store pets in there. If they would rather have that than an 08 Sept Tess horse, why not?
They send the trade back again asking for my NON BALLOON AND MY COONTAIL saying it would be an auto! (Note: These two pets are in folders with huge letters saying NEVER FOR TRADE! EVER! DON'T BOTHER ASKING!)
I put a heated message on their auction board. Hopefully those that are also bidding are seeing this "I'm going to go behind the back of the auction to try and get a better deal" nonsense and think twice about trading with this user.
TLDR: I don't think I've been in an auction yet that has run successfully. The auction holders either forget about the auction or do these shady things that make me not want to trust auctions by doing these sleazeball things like begging for more than the pet is worth and not running a fair auction.
