"The" Rares List Guide - Do not ask about new UR's!

After sorting through a few pages I still can't find the answer so if I missed something please let me know.
Why is the Light pawprint rat {OMGSR} lower on the list then its sibling the Dark pawprint rat? I understand demand is a large factor too but is the demand for the dark really that large to have such a large gap between the too? I personally haven't seen to much demand for rats in general so I didn't think demand would effect it so much. If this has been asked and answered before then I am sorry. I am currently on my phone and I may have missed something the the search results.

I was always under the impression that the dark pawprint was more common, but that was only based off my own adopting back in 08 so my sample size was too small to really draw any conclusions. That said, the dark pawprint is still VR while the light pawprint is OMGSR, so the light one is definitely more rare right now, meaning they are incorrectly placed at the moment.

I know I brought this up a year or so ago, but I still think the old rats are placed too low in the lists, and now that they are going OMGSR they really do need to be looked at at some stage.

From what I had heard I thought the darker outcome was more common as well, but I'm not sure. We'll have to look at some of the other rats too potentially when rarity tags change in the future to see how the placement of those is as well, but if anything it seems like these two would need some kind of swap in list position or something for it to be appropriate now. I like the idea of putting the rats higher Sol, but as it is, people already seldom trade for the speckleds at their listed value (at least that's the vibe I'm getting, and the same sort of idea applies to the rats in general), and I'm not sure moving rats up would really help at all. I guess it might make people more tentative of trading their rats for less, thus leading to an increased perception of value overall, but I don't know if that point would ever be reached with how few people seem to be going crazy over rats.

I got a speckle rat as an art payment a while ago and traded it out for its List value, but I haven't been tracking their values since then. People tend to trade off any pet they perceive to be low demand for cheap, because they think they can't get a fair trade from it, or it's taking too long for them to do so. I don't really think that's a good reason to heavily undervalue an extremely rare pet in the List guide though.

I just think it's incorrect to list OMGSR pets you almost never encounter with Sept listers that we see around all the time. Also, I tried to make a Rat Value Guide once, and was unable to because the list rats were too lowly placed. Basically there was a bloat once you hit the advent/sept list, and I was starting to get rats of clearly different values all being squished into the same value category so they would conform to the current rares list pricings.

Definitely a good point, it's the same kind of reasoning that goes behind the cumber and nanner placements at the moment, for example. It might turn out to be a good idea to move all the rats higher up on the list. And yeah that is sort of weird; eventually that point is going to hit anyways, but I can see why it's kind of strange to have OMGSRs so low on the list. I'm not quite sure what to do about the advent rats necessarily though (whether to move them up to some sort of advent level or to leave them as is at the moment on the draft of the october list).

I have to agree here. It doesn't seem like a OMGSR rat that I don't see that often should be a fair swap for a Red Rose which I see all the time in trade groups. Also aren't these from July? Shouldn't they be on the main list then? Or were they available for longer?

And to comment on Kevin's worry that it won't effect much, I myself have seen trade of the rats getting traded fairly. It can be a bit harder to trade them off but they have quite a few fans if you know where to look for them and trading them off for list price isn't too hard.
