How are we suppose to fully asses the value of list pets if people tend to hoard them? -- Since many seem rarer than they really are due to this issue.

I think part of what has been discussed in the past is that it really depends on how significant the hoarding is. For example the tess st. patty's day dragon seemed much much rarer than it was due to a massive hoarder that stashed them all up right at the start which skewed things and ended up putting it on the list for a while before the hoard dispersed and it was then taken off. At one time I was able to swap it for a marionette because of that.
Hoarding depends on a lot of things other than just size though, including what type of pet it is (store vs. rereleased), if the hoard is still continuing to grow, and if the hoard will ever be broken up.
I know that it's significantly harder to trade for marionettes now than when I started my hoard. But at the same time in general they just seem to be getting more popular too. A year ago I couldn't name one person who really wanted a marionette as a dreamy or just really wanted it in general. It was just another pet. Now it seems like it's becoming a lot more popular so that can be a factor too - not just my hoard.
I think generally speaking hoards shouldn't play a huge role in deciding because to be completely honest I'm sure eventually I'll leave the site and I don't plan on letting my marionettes sit on my account - I plan to disperse most of them at that point which would affect the supply in the market probably quite a bit. If we moved it up the list based on my hoard alone it would probably suffer the same st. patty's dragon syndrome and just have to be moved back down.

Hoarders have a big impact, but so do people who just collect one of each. It's all about availability. How many of that certain pet is being traded before they find their forever homes, sorta speak xD IMO hoarders have just as much impact as the full collection collectors. Hoarders quit or switch around hoard pets back into circulation if they quit the game or get tired of the hoard. Typical full collection collectors don't trade away their pets even if they quit as they want to keep having that complete collection.

I've seen many hoards being broken up over the years, but i don't think i've ever seen someone with a full collection giving away everything xD

You have a good point here - there's only one small-scale UR tiger hoarder I know of but they're still nearly impossible to find because almost every single one ends up in a complete collection or forever home before long at all. I think it's often the same way with some of the more valuable store pets like the cerberus and eat me/drink me set.

@Kyar, I know 2 Ur tiger hoarders. But i know aaaa lot more people who have one Ur tiger each xD The same goes for the cerbs, i only know 1 orange cerb hoarder but i do know lots of people who own one of both.

You are a great example. Before you started your hoard, marionette were going for tier swaps almost exclusively. Now that you've taken 140+? Out of circulation, people are holding onto theirs and tier swaps are getting harder to come by. I'm excited to see what happens once your hoard hits 200!

It's funny that the impact of your hoard is far bigger then mine. I have almost 80 toxics that are not going anywhere, yet yellow toxics still go for their list value and aside from the occasional beg message/death wish i get, nobody seems to care that i have that many and aren't 'overpaying' in the same manner that does happen for marionettes xD

Yeah you have a point there - another thing I've found with marionettes in particular and I suppose store pets in general is that many people who don't go for full collections like to go for littler things like full store pet collections - I know I've snagged a few marionettes out of those in the past but eventually people like to keep their sets intact. :)

Lol I have to admit I'm quite excited for 200 myself although it's going to be quite a struggle the way things have been going lately - most of the marionettes I'm finding are in those store collections and people don't part with them easily. :)

But you're absolutely right. Yellow toxics are a touch harder to find than green but I don't see people overpaying for them anywhere near the way they do for marionettes. It kinda depends on the hoard I guess. Like I know at least a couple of people and there are probably more who hoard the scarf dogs but I don't know that I've ever seen them go for overpay unless people were really desperate just to get on the list or something.

Every 'group' of pets is called a tier C: So when there's pets grouped together by an = or , It's on the same tier!

@patch; The trades posted for the UR cat on this topic are almost all around nonballoon trades. While i agree that it goes for balloons more, that's not what the trades posted show. There's also the fact that lots of people decided to say that it's worth a balloon, basically putting it on the list before it was really there - which made others think it's worth only that and thus trading it away for that. From my own experience, i was able to trade 3 Ur ice cats away for nonballoon+. All it takes is a bit of patience, generally lacking in the average CS user xD
