Some pets change as time goes on, for example,
some of the 2010 pets that were uncommon
have changed to rare.You are not going crazy ^^

Yup. As more people join the site the pets adopted in previous months and years get rarer and rarer because there were fewer members adopting when they were released. This is balanced out by the Dec. 18th re-release during the Advent calender when all pets from CS's past are released again in small numbers for each person to adopt in two random presents.
