If there's one thing in that sentence that sticks out it's the word "proposing" I think
Like you could have said "I like the theories you guys are throwing around" or something more casual
proposing seems like a well-chosen word to throw in

though I might just be overthinking it xD

Nah, what I'm referring to is this comment I made earlier: "Loving the theories y'all have been proposing about my dog." Now you get to figure out what I meant by that. ^^ I will tell you that this step is fairly easy once you start thinking along the right track, so don't try to overthink anything just yet.

obviously schuyler means the pup is actually proposing. (ring and all)

this is totally sarcasm, but maybe there's something more to it.

The crying dog might be reminiscent of Cinderella (the fabric she's holding makes me think of Cinderella's dress after her step sisters tear it apart). In which case it would be a dog currently down on her luck-- but destined to be proposed to by a prince

Edit: the freckle markings also do seem vaguely reminiscent of "cinders"

Cinderella was my very first thought when I saw the pup, and the more I look at it the more I feel like that's the actual concept behind it

At this time I have no comments to make about any "Is __ your dog?" guesses. Buut, I would like to draw your attention back to this sentence: "That post in and of itself is not a clue about my dog, rather something that will lead to the next piece in a larger puzzle ..." I mean that literally, no tricks. Again, don't try to overthink this one. :P There'll be plenty of time for that later.

This is another stretch, but this dog could also relate to the word "proposing"
The feather on its nose is blue, and the popular game franchise Harvest Moon uses blue feathers in place of engagement rings

One thing about my pup I thought might be of interest to note (though it's not meant as a hint in any way) is that he's from the same world as my 2013 staff dog, Kol. They don't have any actual association with each other (yet?) but Kol has probably seen relatives of this year's pup at some point in his travels. :3

I bet they have the same tail, I have been saying this theory over and
over again XD and I don't recall getting a negative on it so that is the
theory I'm going with.

I will say the tail is not the feature the hint is referring to. ;3
