I just had a thought about the rats: is it at all possible that one of the outcomes may be a Coati? They are actually classified as the South American Raccoon, so there's a coon for you.

Aww, I'd absolutely love if they're based on coatis^^ They're so cute <3
But maybe they're based on a few different animals? I'm not really sure exactly what they remind me of, but I can see both lemur, racoon and coati. And maybe something else..

I think they looks like marble rather than spiders.
