I'm betting on some type of fish....as I said earlier, a lot of marine conservation groups use a turtle as their logo...also, if you look closely, you'll notice some sort of scale-like pattern on the face and body of the foal. Look at the nose bridge, cheeks, back, shoulder, and belly.

Hmm... yeah, and if you look really closely, they look not 'shiny' but 'slimy' like fish become, from being in the water forever.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but fish are in their own little group, right? They're not classified as reptiles.
Goodbye, snake theory, even though I was convinced that the first one I showed was, Lilian Nightshade said they were not reptiles.

Fish are part of the Chordata phylum.

Fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals are the five distinct Classes in Phylum Chordata, which in turn is part of Kingdom Animalia. Fish are separate from reptiles, and evolutionarily speaking one can consider amphibians to be a "bridge" between fish and reptiles, further illustrating a distinct difference between the two Classes.

hmmm. I still think they may be some sort of fish. I found some pics of a type/color? of (freshwater) Angel fish that look quite similar to the black/white with gold top.

This >>> pic is a gold marble[?] angelfish. Not a completely perfect pic pattern wise -doesn't have a black head/face- but there a TONS of variation with spots etc, and one could possibly have more similar markings xD Buuuut I also wouldn't know what angelfish would have to do with turtles... Soooo

EDIT :: Oh, whoops! Somehow I did not see any of that puffer fish talk going on xD Looks plausible, totally! :D *also slinks away awkwardly*
