Happens to me many times, usually because "oh man, I have two more than I needed, let's just get eight more".
Here's a couple that I still distinctly remember, but there's definitely more.

Touch the Machinery 50 -> 100 -> endless -> 404
Nem Veh Imah 20 -> 30 -> 50
Rivers of Fire 50 -> 100
I Don't Give A Hoot 20 -> 50

Yep all the time. I've had quite a few hoards that I attempted to stop at 20 of. Every time I go over 20 I just bump it up 20 more.
