"The" Rares List Guide - Do not ask about new UR's!

There's a lot of early 09 VRs, I posted them here for the addon list:

Perhaps that is what's caused this value discrepancy. Maybe the valuation was correct because people were paying say 2-3 pets that are now were rare but are now early 09 VRs, and 1-2 pets that are still early 09 rares, or some sort of combination of that? The advent valuation is probably older than the rarity changes; it was around before Nick changed the ways rarities work, and I think that triggered a few early 09 VR changes as well.

So much talk I don't know which post to quote anymore xD Anyway, I heard once someone saying that mid advents go for 5 early'09 R, which honestly makes a lot more sense to me because I have only traded an early '09 R for 2 late '09 R on very rare occasions, its not very common and I would agree that 3-4 early '09 R is not enough for a mid advent. I'm not sure that it is commonly known that a VR goes for two R from the same year, when I first started trading I was coughing up as much as 4-5 R for a VR. I don't think we should start saying that advents are worth 'this many '09 VR' until the'09 VR list is up and its values decided so that people have an idea of what VR are worth in the first place.

There are still plenty of early '09 R around. I have several right now and it seems only 1 or 2 pets from each dog litter in the early months are VR right now while there are litters of 5-6 dogs. Its not like VRs are the magority of early '09 pets right now P: The ratio for the first 2 months is 22 VR/38 R and most of what is throwing that off is all the rats. Without the rats its 11 VR/ 35 R.

Slightly off topic but something else that bothers me a lot when I see people trading for advents and mid advents, sometimes users will have 3 or 4 rats in the '09 mix, and when they ask everyone will tell them its fair, but they can't get anyone to trade with them because they have those rats. I have always always gone by the policy that when it says 7 '09 R, it means 7 dog '09 R, because if your offer includes a rat, or even spiders, ponies, or horses, your chances of getting that trade accepted plummet. I think something should take that into account, that if you offer 7 '09 rare rats, people probably aren't going to accept because rats are valued less. I know there is the occasional trade in which rats and other low demand pets are traded for mid advents, but this is not the magority or common from what I know, and its been bothering me a while.

I've been seeing a lot of users believing that every tier is an 09 rare gap, so when they work off of the fact that the lowest tier is 2-3 09 rares, they're ending up at something like 10-11 09 rares for a mid advent on the basis that "every tier is an 09 rare". So how much of the "the old system ain't working" is coming from the users with the above misconception?

And another thing to think about: should the gap answers given out ("this gap is an 09 uncommon" etc) change to reflect the misconception? Because that's what the trade market is doing o.O;

I was under the impression that it was 9 early/mid 09 rares for a mid advent when I joined and honestly I saw that happen quite often. I'm not saying that that's what it should be changed to but the reality of it is that I have never seen a user take 3 mid/late 09 rares for a bottom tier list pet - not even the rat. I understand if that's what it SHOULD be (or close to what it should be) but isn't the list supposed to be a guide to what pets are going for? I've never seen a mid advent go for 3-4 early 09 rares - it would be awesome if they did but it just - to me - doesn't seem fair. If that's the case then how many early 09 rares should a late 08 VR be? Two? But if that's true then shouldn't those pets be somewhere on the advent list too? That's mostly what I'm saying. I honestly think that mid advents are worth more than just 3-4 non list pets - even if they are early 09 rares. Either that or the 09 list might as well get added into the advent list because these gaps seem so small now that it's hardly worth it to make a whole separate list.
I just think that maybe back when the mid advents were just rare - back in late 2010/early 2011 that would make more sense. But I dunno. I just don't see it happen and I don't know that we should put up values that no one really follows. Maybe if we did start correcting the misconception it would start to more - but I think that even a change like say... 5 early 09 rares for a mid advent would be a little more reasonable. :) I'm definitely not closed off to anything right now but I'm just a little hesitant to leave everything in that area so microscopically close in value that it's difficult to tell how the pets' values differentiate at all.

I'm just going to jump in here and say I'm extremely confused now that Sol's said that about the advents. I was told that 3 early '09 rares equaled the lowest tier in the advent list by a few different people (granted they may have not known the list like they thought they did)

I am still thinking the issue with the different values is that the early 09 rares people were accepting for their mid advents are mostly the ones that have now turned VR. You wouldn't pay 6-7 early 09 VRs for a mid advent.

I think this will all become a lot clearer once the Oct/Nov 08s and early 09 VRs are added to the list - it should be a little easier to see what sort of gaps are between the tiers, and where everything sits.

I think when ever this thread gets remade, we should have a Gap worth eather with the list
