About reapplying demand:

I have actually seen people say "the black advent is in demand so you must pay more than what it says in the rares list"; I'm not just seeing people say "I really want it so I will overpay" or "people will be more willing to overpay, so you might get a much higher pet for he black advent". I'm literally seeing people say "the black advent is in demand so it must be worth more than where it's placed in the list" (also true for other pets with low or high demand, though it's obviously the opposite for low demand pets)
Not to mention that I've seen more jan a few users become enlightened when they were told that he rares list factored in both demand and rarity (this may be in part due to the name itself, which only reminds people of "rarity" (because "rares" is related to "rarity") while it doesn't really mention anything about demand xD; it's also in part due to the lack of reading, but still)

The demand of the BA is very inconsistant, at times they go for sorbets, and other times they go for much
less. Recently I haven't seen many consistent major overpays for them. I mostly see mid-low Augusts being traded for
BAs. I also wouldn't say that there are a lot people who actually love the BA.. Yes many people do like it, but most people
go after them for the sake of how much they can get for it, and some people are so blinded by it's demand they
think that it's the pet they want the most etc..

Another reason why their demand still exist is the fact that people keep bringing up what they can get for one,
or what they paid for one. Then others see the post and would want to get the same deal and the demand
gets blown out of proportion all over again. It's also the same with other list pets as well.


Also speaking for myself. I am a very big fan of the BA, but I would never overpay anything more then a low main
list for one no matter how much I want it.. and for the people who have never seen a fair swap for a BA (e.g dark leo for BA)
They do exist with patience and finding the right people to trade with.

Yes people will continue to overpay and it's their choice to do with their pets as they please.
No one is stopping them from overpaying, and people will continue to demand overpay and it's their choice to do as
they please as well, but it does not change the fact that the rares list reflects much
more then that. As I had quoted in the other page, (I'm sorry that I keep on quoting your post Solloby xP)
her post lists what comes into play when deciding on placements.

Just a couple of notes about the above discussions...
- You cannot consider demand while completely ignoring supply, it doesn't work that way
- BA is a bad pet to choose for comparision (it's supply is restricted by multiple serious hoarders, it's popularity is high and it has been boosted appropriately from the advent list to the septembers)
- Regarding the mention of people wanting BAs: most of them don't matter. People begging for free BAs don't have sufficient trading stock to exchange for the BA, and since they cannot trade for the BA, they do not affect it's demand because they don't participate in any trades involving it.

There is a lot to consider. Hopefully this can give you guys a little insight into what needs to be considered:
- Supply (rarity and rarity change dates)
- Demand (popularity among those that can afford them)
- Circulation (the reason UR Mint auctions aren't working - they don't circulate well)
- Comparison to appropriate pets (avoid comparing to the BA or Joker in particular)
- Hoarders (they affect both supply and demand, but you need enough serious ones)

Please let me know if I have left anything out. Sorry to derail the thread a bit, I just wanted to state what I consider when talking about rare list pets and their placements to make sure that I am considering everything I need to.

I would also like to add that if "what decides what the pets are worth are the trades" decides it's placement
then it could be argued that the august pps lion would fit perfectly somewhere on the list.
It's been almost a year and the demand for those are still high, majority of people pay advents+ for just one
from what we mostly see. Rarity wise, it's clear that the fact that it started out as a VR right away
shows just how rare it is.
Considering that alone, the rarity of pets are determined by how many are currently available on the site, not year of release.
(NOTE that I do not support/agree in any way that the pps should be on the list, it's just an example)

Since people constantly reapply demand to the list, there should be a version of the list without demand placed in the front and labled.

Then the one with demand should be under. Because then people who actually read will see the one with demand added and understand it has demand added, and people who don't will apply demand to the first.

Or they'll skim, get confused with the two, and then read.

There's no way in telling what pets are worth without demand. We don't know what they are worth, aside from when certain pets changed in rarity. Tess and Nick won't tell us the true rarity of pets for good reason. We aren't able to make a list with just rarity cause we have no way to access that value. All trades always include some form of demand, either people overpay cause everybody overpays, or people overpay cause the pet has a special meaning to them and they don't mind to overpay :3

On the topic of Raven dogs; I've had a raven dog for trade for a little over 6 months. I've gotten countless of tier swaps, and only 2 overpay offers (A cake dog and a blue rose dog). So the 'they only go for overpay', Isn't really true :3 Sure, it was 'overpay', same tier pet and 1 added 09 rare. But honestly, that's not what i call overpay xD


@kyar. I think you are right, the coontail gap needs to be changed a bit. I can't remember it ever being 2 nons and a balloon dog, i always thought it was worth 2 nons.

I was thinking about this, but I think demand for the BA, August Lioness, and the PPS Lion, is the public. This is just one idea for it, but when U saw everyone going free the PPS Lion as a newbie, I thought it was worth something, and immediately went to find one. Because of 30 people wanting the lion for reasons such as it's appearance, or it's rarity, but then others would immediately go after it because if jealousy, or thought it was worth a list. This would gradually spread to the rest of the site. I don't even want the PPS lion, but in the auction forum, if I see an auction for it, I would go for it.

There's no point for that; some pets from '09 are already added to the front, but not all. Pets from '10 aren't worth as much as ones from 08 and '09. Although, don't quote me on this, I think Hekomi and others are adding an add-on list for other pets, with high demand, from '09, such as the White February or the Camo dog.

I'm not sure if they're still going through, of course, as they mentioned it a while back.

viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1438278 There's the topic. It's only for left over 08's and very rare/09's that are very hard to find. There's no point in suggesting anything that's not from 09 and at least very rare because we won't add things that aren't worth that much :3

I'm wondering if there's any way I could get an idea of the pet-worth gap between september and advent list and maybe the average pet-worth gap between lines in the advent & september list? :B
