Okay, I'm totally new so... Do you guys have some useful tips for hoarding? Like... Are there many players against it or is the majority okay with it when you ask for multiples of one pet?

The majority of people are usually okay with it nowadays from what I've seen. It can get more tricky with rare+ hoards, as there's people who don't support those even when they're okay with hoards in general. But hoarding itself has become widely accepted as it is, and I don't really see many people any more who will refuse to trade with hoarders.

Your best bet is to make sure you always read or at least skim people's trade rules to see if they have any rules about not asking for more than one of a pet, or anything like that.
If you're feeling really unsure and can't tell if someone is ok with hoard trades or not, you can try adding something to your trade message, along the lines of "I hope it's okay if I ask for multiples of this pet". A little bit of politeness often goes a long way, so it's a good idea to make a habit out of leaving at least a small message anyway.

There's no right or wrong way to go about hoarding things; some people like to finish their hoards one by one to focus on them better, while others hoard multiple things at once.
Personally I like having a couple hoards going at the same time, because it can feel a bit tiring to search for one and the same pet, especially if it's a bit harder to find. So it's refreshing when you can just grab something else in between, even if your main focus is one particular hoard.

Of course, on the topic of trade rules, it's also a good idea to mention hoarding in yours - that way people know that you want multiples, and they won't feel like they can only offer you one of a pet.
Having links to your hoards or a couple pictures of your wanted hoard pets can help, too, as long as they're not too many.
(Too many pictures can be a bit overwhelming. Hoard an entire litter? Use the newborn pic instead of all the separate outcomes, or one outcome with the note "hoarding entire litter".)

And since you're new - the Pound is gonna be your best friend for a while. Try to catch the openings - they're free pets, and it's a great way to get either your hoardies, or some old pets to use as trade fodder (or for keeping).

I agree. I've been hoarding pets and items for years. Nevertheless, sometimes it's better if you say you're looking for X and Y and multiples are welcome, instead of saying you're hoarding X and Y. Maybe it's just me but I get a lot more trades if I say multiples are welcome instead of saying I'm hoarding the pet. 8D

Oh and I think there is nothing wrong with hoarding after all. I have a complete collection but I want to do something and have a reason to log in every day. Some people collect all pets, some only dogs, others only Black Advents, everyone should decide for themselves what they want to do with the time they're spending on here. ^_^

i just realised how silly it is of me to hoard a litter with almost only uncommons in it... from 2011. hahah

as for the hoard name, i think something galaxy-ish would be fitting? i like the blue on their back. i don't know, maybe something including the word space?

why do you hoard the pets you hoard?

ahem-
first of all, id like to start off with my albino deer hoard. i just absolutely loved the albino outcomes, and i saw someone make a post about starting a hoard with the lions. and i though yes! thats a great idea!! but as i felt like i would be stealing their idea. i went for the deer instead, cause they were really, really adorable - and a lot of people seemed to have doubles of it as well.

now, for my dwarf hamster hoard. i don't really know why i started it, i just love the pets that no one else seem to care a lot about. i got really upset when i saw someone naming their rats 'ugly' and 'i hate rats' and i felt really sorry for them i just wanted to adopt them all and give them new names and a loving home. but instead i went for dwarf hamsters, not sure why. hm.

now, the 2011 litter hoard might just be my favourite. i really love this litter for some reason, and originally my goal was just to achieve one of each. then, i don't know what happened but now i have a hoard with them XD

why do you hoard the pets that you hoard?

challenge aside, I find the UR lions have a design I find visually appealing and am excited about; blue + pink reminds me of swirled cotton candy and they're an interesting challenge to dress up, so I love that aspect as well. I also find that they aren't valued as anything besides a filler list pet, so I want to draw attention to what they have the potential to be; a beautiful pet that has a lot to offer in terms of simple but varied design.

why do you hoard the pets you hoard?

Almost all my hoards are related to my interests in real life. If a pet design reminds me of a TV show, book, movie, or song that I like, I'll most likely hoard it.

This can be both a blessing and a curse when it comes to naming the hoard. If a pet's design instantly reminds me of, say, a character, I'll name it after them. If the pet had a design that I like but it doesn't immediately remind me of something I enjoy, it will likely take me ages to name that hoard.

I also have a few hoards dedicated to some of my family members, mostly based on things they like as well. The hoards for my brother are based on koi, tea, and chess. For my sister I have pugs. And for my mom I have goats because she really wants one. I don't have one for my dad yet though.

So that's basically my entire hoard-choosing process, aside from just liking a design in general.

whew, just updated my hoard post, finally have pictures for all of them xD

and while doing that I realised I'm quite close to finishing some hoards: I only need one of the Easter 2013 Bwolves (the rare one), 7 of sketchis leaf BWolves, 2 of the pink 2012 Christmas Chia Bwolves, 9 pink and 11 blue Flurrfle Hamsters, less than 10 of each Butterbun and 3 (!!!) light Purple 2016 Bwolves xD

hard to belive I'll probably finish the Flurrfle Hamster Hoard before having a name for them XD

if any one of you needs hoard images or something, feel free to PM me, I'm bored and want to do something D

Ah I hoarded 20 of those when they came out! I called it 'Eiffel 65' as they were the band who made the song 'I'm Blue', it's very fitting if you've seen the music video x'D

I will also be starting an uncommon hoard soon because I will be getting a pet frog, the tank arrived today and the rest of the supplies arrive tomorrow! It will be an Ornate Horned Frog called Pringle and I just have to start a hoard in his honour u-u
