I originally was just going to keep any pets I liked for my collections instead of ALL the uncommons and rares I was originally trying to complete on CS...but that still seems wrong to me. I think all I want to do is hoard and try and get the last few list pets I like.
I've been struggling with that for years. I cannot decide whether I should keep all of the pets that I like for my collection or whether I should only to keep a handful of very special pets.
Then there is the sheer quantity of hoards that I have. Should I dismantle most of them and keep only the ones that are most precious to me? Or should I keep hoarding to the extent I have been for the past five years?
I feel great and completely satisfied whenever I decide to let go of some pets (in real life I neither collect nor hoard anything), but I have also grown attached to my hoards, so letting go is becoming increasingly difficult ...
If it helps any I only kept 5 pets and one unlimited hoard, I love it. <3 Best decision I've ever made. I'd take it slowely you know, move your least favourite pets to your trade group and dismantle your least favourite hoards (if you want to of course) eventually you'll know when you no longer want to downsize.

@Sarcastic Hawke - Sounds like something I need to do also!
@Lunar kitty - so you'd recommend only keeping hoards and moving all other pets into a trade group?? (:
Honestly, I'm just looking for opinions right now. I'm considering only keeping hoards and list pets, no rares, no extras, nothing. It's difficult because over the years I've worked hard for some of the pets and my collection has grown and I don't know how I'd feel about letting some of the pets go. Plus side is that I'd have a huge huge fodder for list pets and pets that I actually want to collect, but when you've been on the site for more than a few years and have a collection, it's difficult to remove some of those pets. If that makes sense? Also pet rarity mostly, not entirely, increases with date, yet it seems pointless to have so many pets collecting dust when they could be put towards bigger goals and given to users who will cherish them. Some of the list pets I have done art for, so have a slightly bigger resentment to trading them. I'd really love to downsize my pets, but I've never done it before and there would be no going back. It would make pet groups more manageable though ^^

I actually did a sort of downsizing earlier this year when I sold and traded everything of value off for dinosaurs.
Saw how quickly everyone came swooping in to pick all the valuable pets. Quickly leaving all of the low value stuff nobody wants behind.
Then I know of felt bad for the "junk pets"
Lol I am so darn sappy and ridiculous.

My hoard of the ice skating items from earlier in the advent is going really well <33
It crawled to a stop for a few days, but now I just traded for two more full sets
Because I'm crying over the last episode of YOI and need something to do
I now have;
10 Blue Suits, 9 Blue Dresses
11 Green Suits, 10 Green Dresses
12 Red Suits, 10 Red Dresses
11 Pink Suits, 9 Pink Dresses
43 Black Skates, 43 White Skates
Now, the pets that they're going on.. not so good XD
The pets that I chose to go with them are the December 2nd gens
I currently have 25, and a lot of those are from the pound
I cry every time I check the pound's pets
There are so many of the 2nd gens in there
I count at least 20+ in almost every opening

I lost my title of "Most hoards" but then I look through the persons groups and I don't find them to be much of a competition lol. Not that hoarding is a competition. I am wondering on how to go about putting my hoards back together, at least the ones that I am currently having difficulty finding. A few pets from a past summer event are SUPER difficult to get my hands on lol.

You could keep some of those pets if you wanted.

I know I've kept a very common 2012 kitty. How about first weeding out those you are sure you aren't attached to, pets you don't like. You don't have to instantly move all pets to your trades you know.

How I did it was that I made a new group and I just kept adding pets to it that I thought I didn't want, then I looked at my 'keeper' group and added back everyone who I thought was missing. If it was a 2012 very common or a 2015 uncommon... So be it, as long as I'm happy it's fine.

I disbanded parts of my collection, such as it was, to focus mostly on hoards. If I miss an outcome I only trade for it if I like it, and if I don't like a pet, I trade it off. I still have hundreds of non-hoard pets, and I still collect certain species (cats, bunnies, lions) and PPS pets, but I feel much better not worrying about pets I don't care for.
This hoard
is over halfway done now and I haven't even really been focusing on it. Not sure what's up with that, but I've never had this much ease hoarding recent pets before.
