Just wondering, How big is the "significant gap" between the September and advent lists?

It's not very big. You just need two mid advents to get a low September, for example.

And to expand upon that, the gap between the top tier advents and the lowest tier septembers is a low advent.

the august pps isnt on the rares list and wont be for a few years, it was just demand that made everyone think so.

No, the August Lion isn't going on the rares list, as far as I heard. Neither is the Shima Longtail. I believe the white February is though...

The August lion has never, and probably won't ever be on the Rares List. It's one of those shima longtail type of pets.

The white february is most likely going to be on the october list

The August PPS won't even be on the October/09 List that's currently being worked on. It's simply a 2012 very rare. I even doubt the Shima is going to be on the new List.

It's very rare, but so are store pets and such. If the lion goes on the list, all the rares and very rares from all the years before have go on before it.
