The results so far are interesting and highlights the problem with setting a demand price based on just a small portion of the user bases opinions rather than letting people decide for themselves which pets of the same rarity they actually prefer and value higher.

Even the supposedly highest demand pet on the site, the Raven, only has 33.2% of votes so far rating it as a 10/10 pet. This doesn’t surprise me personally as the continued popularity of the Raven has baffled me considering all the other lovely edited pets we now have on the site (it was different in earlier years when there were only a few heavily edited pets).

It’s interesting that the blue tiger pps has a higher 10/10 rating (36.5%) than the Raven, the pps fairy fox higher at 41.2%, the pps cheetah even higher at 46.4% and the pps gryphon higher again at 52.4%. In fact the pps gryphon has almost as high a 10/10 rating as the pps dragon cat (53.5%) so why are we listening to claims that the dragon cat should go for so much more? They are the same rarity and both set exclusives with only a few years apart.

It is a shame that the other 2017 stores were left out, especially the dragon set exclusive, as 2017 had some of the best store pet imo and it would have been interesting to see their ratings compared with the others. I also feel that with using just the store exclusives some of them could give a false impression of the popularity of the set in whole. For example I personally am not that fond of the rainbow unicorn deer but really like the rest of the set. Same with the peacocks, snakes, alien dogs and fairy foxes. It’s the non-exclusives I prefer in these sets.

Lastly, looking at the later set exclusives, I’m shocked to see that calico PPS kitten as high as it is. I personally do not care for the set myself as it comes off as flat and thematically uninteresting ;v; I would love to know what other people are seeing in this pet, as I just don’t get it!!

I’m really hoping for a spreadsheet someday, as this is really useful and interesting information!

Personally I found it most surprising how much I dislike the kitsunes compared to most people. I just don't like their mask faces.

I agree with you about personally not liking the kitsunes lack of faces (I’m not a fan of faceless pets in general) and also not being a huge fan of the pps calico cat or many of the other heavily cutesy cartooned stores. Apparently others love them though and that’s great to see the different opinions.

Seconding that ‘17 was one of the strongest years of store pets to date in my opinion, even what I think are the weakest sets of the year (the carnival lions and the fluffy PPS dogs) are still very visually appealing and there isn’t a single set that I either have no interest in or actively dislike. The feathered dragons, tree dogs and gryphons are particularly gorgeous and highlights of my collection!! The best store pets, to me at least, are sets that allow for distinct, detailed edits with a strong theme - everybody’s fan favourite in the Raven, the ‘17 gryphons, the ‘15 deer, the ‘22 macaws (which I wish were all featured on this list so I could sing their praises), the sky lions, the Japanese dogs, the dragon cats… and anything by Lilian Nightshade or Yağmur haha

Overly cartoony stores also do not appeal to me, nor do most sets based on real animals given how similar to each other they can end up being (I had high hopes for a peacock litter as I think they’re stunning animals that could inspire gorgeous pet designs, alas the actual stores are just too simple and flat for my taste). The only litters I can think of that escape that curse to me are the striped-tail critters and the cheetahs given their particularly well executed edits and each pet feeling distinct as a result.

I agree with some of the ones you’ve listed but personally am not a fan of some, like the’15 deer. I personally love the carnival lions, most of the mythical pets (that aren’t too cutesy cartoony) and most of the realistic sets, especially the alpacas, corgis, striped tail critters, Dinos, cheetahs, ferrets, and kangaroos. Having grown up around peacocks I personally love the peacocks, though do wish we’d had one displaying the classic coloured fully opened tail. I’m a little odd though as I personally prefer pets like the Clydesdale, Arabians, seahorses, carousels, alien dogs and fairy dogs (and could go no) over pets like the Raven, patchwork, eat me, drink me and marionette.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if instead of having guides trying to set a demand price on things when everyone clearly has their own personal preferences we had a guide simply giving the names of pets in the different higher ratites and then linking to threads like this so that people could decide for themselves what they prefer, see how others feel about the pets and decide a balance of what they would then be willing to trade?
