I don't know if anyone tried this before, but let me stab myself in the dark.
I believe this is yours Metallic? I haven't been keeping up with the last 30ish or so pages of theories and hints, so bear with me.
"1. ""Mine has edited ears and just wants a hug."" Edited ears are there, and this pup looks a bit scary; might be me looking at the design too much, but the eyes seem like they're looking to the side more-almost as if they're hopeful or guilty about something? Design seems a bit on the creepy/scary side, so maybe that's where 'just wants a hug' comes from?
2. ""Mmmm indeed, bear with me while I think of one that won't give me away. I'll return
soon"" (Potential trolling with puns?) Looks a bit bear-like with the mane color & body color?
3. ""I hate to be the bearer of bad news but no hint for you here. "" (Was in their signature
but no longer is; may also be trolling)
4. ""Don't check my pets for hints. You won't find any, buzz off."" A lot of Bee-related puns or hints.

6. ""Is your staff pet based on an anything? If so, what?"" ""mine is a memoriam for my heart rat."" Maybe not necessarily the complete appearance of your heart rat, but the tail looks a lot like a rat's. Hm..
7. Link on Staff page leads to a video called ""Do the Honey Bee!""
8. ""Her heart rat, which is a rat that you feel very close to, and that you can have
deep conversations with, either looks like a badger or was named Badger"" (♥Laughing
Jack♥) ""Bingo"" (Metallic Dragon) Maybe not a completely relevant clue? The mane/ neck area reminds me of the fluffy thoraxI don't know my anatomy help of a bee, and badgers do eat bees.

Good luck figuring it out."" in signature Earlier you replied to someone talking about the meaning of heart pets, so I'm assuming it might have something to do with people confusing your heart rat's name and your litter pup's appearance? All the hints seem to be pointing to "bear"

-It has edited ears and "needing a hug" could refer to bear hugs owo
-"Bear with me while I think of one" "I hate to be the bearer of bad news"
-Several "bee" references have been made (Bears love honey of course)
-Tail edit? (Does no tail count as a tail edit? ;w; )
-The colors and facial markings match that of a sun bear?

Of course I can't find any correlation to the heart rat... But she did say we misunderstood one hint so maybe that was the one?

Okay so I'm still catching up to this thread so someone's probably pointed this out but Raire's sig has "cold rough" and Jayfrost's has "warm soft," which most likely means their dogs are cuddle buddies.

I know someone said it already due to the constant Rafiki gifs, but I think I can connect it to your clues. remotely.
"1. Paragraph with first letters spelling ""STEALTH"" Could refer to design style, maybe a bit of story or other hints? Or maybe because we don't know what the eyes look like; there are gold-ish highlights.
2. ""Look up Caer, Lir, and Soláthraí in my posts. Somewhere in there will tell you their stories."" They all look like farm animals,
but there might be no relation with the theme.
3. ""Look harder"" GIF I can't see They all have to do with some incorporeal element (as well as saving or guiding in some shape of form[Air, Water, Land]); Peace, Panic, Hope; I'm assuming there's no inconsistency in this year?
