the guitaristxxxthe bass playerIt was the assessment day at school. Another new school, in a new city, in a new country. And he wouldn't stop looking at me. Every time I looked up, our eyes met. Out in the hall, waiting for our next assessment. In the classrooms, while taking a short break from the endless questions. Outside, soaking up the sun.
And the weird thing? I actually kind of liked it.

It had been a few weeks since the assessment day and school had just started. I brought my binders, my pencil case, my new planner to every class. As I tried to remember my combination at lunchtime, I saw him again.
Matt, I'd learned his name was. Short for Mattheus. He wasn't looking at me this time, he was with friends. Julian, definitely the most attractive guy in the grade. Jordi, the soccer pro. Markus, the Asian genius with guitar skills out of this world.
I finally managed to unlock my locker and I shoved my stuff inside, grateful for my new friend Genevieve giving a running commentary of what was going on. Maybe in this school I wouldn't be the outcast, the loser, the weirdo.
But I certainly wouldn't be one of the "popular" girls.
The ones guys like Matt and Jordi always went for in the movies.
It was a few days before I talked to him. My timetable changed and I was put in the same German class as him. On that one day he and another guy, Effron, were sitting in front of me. As the teacher explained about the point system- "You will get a point every lesson if you have all your materials. Today, you get the point just for being here", I raised my hand. He called on me.
"I was here yesterday too, so do I get two points?" I asked innocently.
Chuckles rippled through the class and I was surprised. I hadn't meant it as a joke.
The lesson continued, reviewing everything I'd already gone through yesterday, and finally it ended. As I left the class I could feel Matt's eyes on my back, watching me.
And even though I was already starting to like Jordi, I still didn't feel awkward.
I was in my German lesson and Matt was sitting a table across the aisle. We were talking, laughing. I spotted his ID card and slipped it from his desk, looking at it and giggling. "What?" he demanded, a grin plastered on his face. "What's wrong with it? Come on, let's see yours!"
Hesitantly, I passed him my ID card. He looked at it and I looked away, already blushing as I waited for a jibe or insult. Instead...
"Wow, you're beautiful."
The compliment caught me off-guard and I looked at him. He was still looking at the picture on the card. "Uh... Thanks," I said, slipping it from his grasp. Both my friends, Toni and Genevieve, liked Matt and I didn't want to upset them. I slipped the card back into my pencil case and resumed the lesson.

We were in the mountains of Austria on the fall trip and it was bitterly cold. I pulled my too-small hat down farther on my had and huddled in my jacket, shivering. We were on our way to the beginning of the hike and already I was cold.
Behind me, I heard a movement. "Hey, can I borrow your hat?" said Matt, taking it off my head. My hand was already rising and I caught him tightly by the wrist, then turned, twisted it and placed my hand on his chest to keep him at bay, all in one fluid motion. I grinned at his startled expression. "No. It's mine. Get your own," I said as I pulled it from his grasp. I hadn't fully realised what I had just done until I had pulled my hat back down on my head. I turned around.
"Haha Matt, you failed!" I laughed. I glanced at Jordi and Constantin, walking to either side of him. All three had amazed expressions on their faces, and a hint of a smile was creeping up Matt's face. I turned back to the front and resumed my conversation with Toni.
Should I continue? This is all true, every last tiny detail. ^_^ I personally am pretty pleased with it. (Although it's far from up to date
