Its actually slightly unfair to them; the store pets are worth mid '10 rares.. I'm not sure what would make up the gap though

Ok.. I know the store pets are worth '10 rares, just wasn't sure whether it was mid or late :3

Not sure about the first one, but second is unfair to them, just to dog would be fair because it is within the 3 month rule
