How does one go about choosing *valuable* hoards? I've got about 3 and a half going right now and it's sucking me dry ;w;

My teddy lion hoard is complete! But now I'm thinking about also making a small hoard for the GUPPS version of it. c':
I also have a hoard for the brown teddy lions, but that one's not complete yet. Still might also do a hoard for that GUPPS too though.

I haven't been actively looking for them, but they are definitely becoming hard to come by

Most of the ones I have actually have been gifted to me from a lot of kind users over the years (yes, it's taken me years to get 8 xD)

The goal of 20 seems so far but I'm sure I'll get there eventually ^-^

A lot of luck and offsite trading is mainly how I’ve managed mine. By luck, I mean that I occasionally get to trade bulk for rares that I then can trade up. I’ve also been INSANELY lucky to have some users gift me some that I was missing. They are all marked with [gift] by their name in my collection. Like one year a user gifted me a baby panther rat that’s named Rhoda in my collection.

This year I got lucky and got one of the new URs, and then traded it down for a bunch of dreamies, including this baby skull rat to add to my collection / hoard. unfortunately this year bmd rereleases seemed to be very. few and far in between. i have only seen two, to be precise, one of which i currently own! i swapped out a grown one for a little baby, so even though my number hasn't changed i always count obtaining Babies as a Win!! So everyone meet Lime : )

Honestly, I found that selling my soul is the best option. Because otherwise, I would have never been able to
afford all of these.

I think I just got fortunate over the years, especially since I started most of my hoards when the rares list was still a thing. But nowadays I mostly get my trade fodder by doing art commissions, which is a great way to get my hands on more valuable pets.
And skipping events. Most of the time I just collect all the tokens and auction them off or sell them for C$ at the end.

What are your more valuable hoards? I love hearing the story behind them if you got any, most of mine are pretty... boring.
My vixens were my first rare hoard, I think I got my first one back in 2013? It was my first dream pet and I just could not stop myself from offering on any vixen I saw, so the hoard pretty much started itself.

The timberwolves and bmds started pretty much the same way, but I decided to put a cap on them pretty early on since the vixens took pretty much all of my trade fodder.

I'm still debating with myself about the coontails. They are some of my favorite pets on the site, but I've never hoarded a pet this ... expensive. But I just love them so much. I guess hoarding high-rarity pets is the thing that makes me come back to this game and gives me a goal to work towards since I have no interest in a complete collection c:


@MsCanadian 8 might not seem like much but honestly, I'm so impressed. I still remember trying to get my hands on those when they came out, and people were already hesitant to part with them back then. But trying to hoard them now, 10 years later? That must take some serious dedication. They are harder to get a hold of then some list pets xD

If you wanted to make it easy on yourself, I'd say try to pick a valuable pet that you really like & are passionate about but doesn't seem to have much demand/hype about it.

For example, I hoard the pale pink/blue spotted advent dog, which is not one of the more "popular" advent dogs, but it personally means a lot to me! My best friend IRL gifted me one many years ago when it was still a far-off dream pet of mine, and now it's extra special to me for that reason. I've been gifted a couple of them too from other users, so the sentimental value of this advent hoard just seems to grow more and more for me haha!

It's also easier if you don't care to have a complete collection, like someone else said. Also, if your 3 hoards are roughly the same rarity, maybe pick 1 or 2 to disband so you can put all your effort into ones you like more. If you like all of them equally, then you might just have to settle for smaller hoard goals tbh ^___^

I was going to stop at 10 for my advent hoard, but it looks like I'm accidentally up to 13 now so now I'm shooting for a full 20 :P

What a beautiful collection, there's something super charming about pre 2011 rats that really pulls me in-- maybe it's because I joined in 2011 haha.

Holy heck those are incredibly expensive! That vixen hoard is insane, and *three* coontails? Woof.
I'd imagine art helps a lot if you're good at it, I'm super out of practice so that may not be an option for me for a while haha. The token idea is something to consider though!
Here are my current most expensive, which I have a lot of-- hence why I am constantly low on resources haha. The cheetah has always been my favorite of the lion lineart, so naturally I had to hoard my favorite outcome. As for the dragons, they're my number one favorite pet on the site, hence the high numbers haha.
I know my white feb hoard isn't the most impressive one out there, (Jacob's is a sight to behold) but I'm pretty proud of mine-- though I'm considering just cutting it down to about 10 to focus on dragons :3

I think that's why I initially chose the white feb because I (wrongly) assumed the demand wasn't that great-- at least, it wasn't before I went on hiatus in 2016 LOL

That's super precious! It must feel even more rewarding when you are able to collect more of a pet that you hold an emotional attachment towards. I'm rooting for you to reach that goal of 20!
