She always sat on her own, that's what he noticed. He sat with his brothers and sisters, the only place where he fit in. He had many friends, though all of them were family. She didn't seem to talk to anyone.
She was smart, that's what he noticed. He was smart too, in the top set for everything. He got high marks in all his tests. She did too.
She was an artist, that's what he noticed. He didn't have much interest in art. He prefered music, though he supposed that was a kind of art too. Her art was pinned up in the school gallery, where everyone could see it.
She was quite shy, that's what he noticed. He was outgoing and liked talking to people. He wanted to talk to her. She might never know.

¦ AT FIRST ¦
naughty little fly, why does she cry?
Cold. This place is cold. Gooseflesh raises on the valley of my skin, dappling it- shadowing it with hundreds of tiny peaks. I shiver. Darkness has settled around me like sand in a river; ready to shift with a change in the wind. It's heavy and suffocating, my eyes begin to water as I search hopelessly for a light- for something I can look at. I shift slightly, rolling onto my side with an involuntary groan of pain. My ribs hurt, and my head pounds and seems to push in on itself as I move. Are they broken? My thoughts whisper as I gingerly probe my chest. It hurts. I stop.
The ground is hard, and rocky. My back is pitted with embedded stones- perhaps I had fallen? I can't remember, and this scares me. My heart seems to be forcing it's way out of my chest; it's frantic beating is so loud I cringe. Where am I? My breath comes hard and fast in the stagnant air, I gasp for oxygen now and then I am on my feet. The sudden movement bursts stars across my wide open eyes, and my head spins. I resist the urge to vomit, touching my face briefly and finding blood. Pulling my hand away hastily, I stifle a panicked sob as I stumble forwards.
twisting her little legs, blinking all her eyes?
I'm going to scream. My hands fumble blindly as I fall around in the darkness, scraping against the rock walls. I'm crying freely now, trembling. My skin is damp with sweat. The sound of my footsteps ricochet around the cavern, amplifying my futile struggle to escape. Something wet and sticky trips my bare foot, and I fall forwards with a terrified shriek.
I lay still for a few minutes, hardly daring to breathe. I try to lash out my arm, and that's when I realise I can't.
Silky, glistening, thick. It's ensnared me, and I cannot move. A spider's web.
she tries to scream, oh yes she does- wipe away your wet fly tears:
Light suddenly bursts into being- illuminating the cave with flickering firelight. Showing me exactly how I will meet my death. The web is ropy and smothering- weighed down with dust. It chokes me, stuck tightly to my legs and arm. I writhe desperately- trapped. Trapped. This time I do scream, the sound shreds my throat, a petrified wail of despair as I thrash madly at the bonds.
"No, NO!" My voice rasps, I'm begging. Pleading. Something moves in the darkness.
my venom is quick, you've nothing to fear.
A spider. A spider of grotesque proportion- each leg the length of my broken body. Eyes gleam hungrily at me from the shadows. It staggers towards me- mandibles clicking with anticipation. My wail intensifies. It is covered in hair, thick black strands that seem to clothe it in darkness. Two curved sabres protrude from it's jaw, sleek with poison. It continues jerking towards me, abdomen twitching with each step. The purpose in it's gaze is clear- I stop struggling, I will not escape.
caught in a web, soon you’ll be eaten.
[[more? I'm hoping this will be a short little triology <3
