Well that was certainly unexpected.
I wonder what the theme of these were - I thought they were random, but this one seems to have a very specific pattern.

:o are any of the other dog outcomes based on specific lava formations or are the rest all general? They're so beautiful. It never occured to me they might be specific real places before this outcome!

This one looks to me like it could be pillow lava.


And this one could be smooth ("pahoehoe") lava.

Seems to me like the other outcomes are more generally volcanic eruption themed^^

Now that all the outcomes are out I’ll say that yes, you got this right on the nose! My inner geology nerd wanted to make a basalt-themed litter. There’s pillow, pahoehoe, a’a, columnar, and vesicular basalts. Two of them are also based on “laze”, the toxic gas that forms when lava meets the ocean.

Now that all the outcomes are out I’ll say that yes, you got this right on the nose! My inner geology nerd wanted to make a basalt-themed litter. These all turned out so awesome, great job on all of them! ^^ I totally can't wait to see what you come up with in the future!

My child self was obsessed with volcanoes, so this is easily my favourite litter this month :D

Love them so much! And while I'm looking back over the discussion thread... Personally, I have to say that not only do I not mind splits, I actually like them when they're following a theme. The split choices on this litter make sense in context (such as the pillow lava dog splitting from the laze pup) and that's just super cool to me.
(Though it's also worth noting that only the column and pahoehoe ones really count as a split. The PPSes were marked as PPS right away, the still growing ones were recognizable right away and only had one outcome.)

It's a gorgeous litter and I think I owe it to my elementary school aged self that I hoard them c:
