If you got four then they probably are common. I also dont think that they would put an uncommon as the first cocoon. From what I've seen the rarity goes up the longer it takes for it to grow. (I mean the UR pheonix takes like a month to grow and whatnot)

Yeah, looks like it. I think that usually only one pet grows on the first night, if any, and it's often a cocoon.

Also, I just realized I am missing a 2nd gen. Typical. ):
