"Happy eighth birthday, Audrey!" an enthusiastic birthday girl said to her best friend.
"You too, Caitlin," the other birthday girl said as the two hugged.

The nineteen-year-old stood quietly, her eyes glued to the gray, marble headstone. Her eyes scrolled over the words again and again, tears streaming down her freckled cheeks, even though she had read them every day for ten years.

She knelt down and ran her fingers across the stone; it dropped along with her eyes. She knew the her best friend's body wasn't under there. What the headstone said was literal: she was never found, but pronounced dead after being missing for a year and a half.

"Happy nineteenth birthday, Audrey," Caitlin whispered. She could almost hear the words "You too, Caitlin," in reply from her friend. Slowly, she placed a concrete stone next to the marble. It was roughly flattened with two small handprints imprinted in it.

"Do you remember this?" she asked quietly, placing her hand over the small imprint on the right side. "This was from our eigth birthday party. From what we called arts and crafts time." She smiled weakly as her eyes swiveled along the colorful beads that flecked the rock. "This is my hand. And that one is--" Caitlin paused for a moment, took a breath and continued. "And that one was yours."

She sat in silence for twenty minutes. It wasn't until a family of birds began chirping loudly that she snapped back to reality. Caitlin smiled (although her lips didn't part as she did so) and stood up, letting out another deep breath. She began to walk away, and slid her hand across the top of the marble headstone as she did.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Audrey. Happy birthday."

[[ Continuing from long ago, haha. This keyboard sucks, so sorry for any typos! Oh, and Nightlilly, that story was amazing. ]]

>Part II<
"What game should we play next?" Caitlin asked her friend.
A glint appeared in Audrey's eye; it always did when she had an idea. "Let's play adventure!"
"But where will we go?" Caitlin asked.
"Well, we can go to the field and woods down the street!"
"Sounds like a plan."

~~~
Pulling out her camera, Caitlin began to talk to her friend. "I'm going on vacation for a few days, so I won't be able to actually be here until I get back." The camera flashed as the picture of the headstone was taken. "But don't worry, we'll still have our daily visits." Caitlin sat down, indian-syle. She was silent for a moment.
"Do you remember that time my dad took us fishing when we were 12?" Caitlin asked. "I fell into the water off the side of the boat. I didn't really know how to swim... When I got pulled back onto the boat, I found out that you were in the water swimming after me before my dad had any time to react." Caitlin sighed.
"You were always heroic. You were always amazing. You were my guardian agel, I swear. Always there for me, whether it was physical or emotional trouble I was in." Looking at her feet, then back at the grave, she took a breath and continued, "And those are always great traits to have." She began to choke up. "But the worst thing about all that is... is that..." Tears began again. There wasn't a day that went by during a visit she didn't cry.
"Audrey, it got you killed. I got you killed."
Mm, hello thread~ ;u;
I did a lot of item changing around things, so you might want to hard refresh...
Raanan xxx Zynan
He was an honest boy with honest intentions.
Really, it wasn't so much his fault that he got tangled in these things; when your father is the ruler of the land, it's a bit more than hard to scrape by. But being such a naive ruckus-maker didn't help his case, not at all. He'd learned by the age of two that sticking his golden tongue out at representatives made Daddy mad, but there wasn't a thing he could do with them there.
But he knew that certain representatives were very important, and that they should never be pfffbbed at. The first one he learned was big Zynan. He was way too young to be bossing around a country- this boy was probably fifteen- but he ran it and he ran it well. His father had run it into the dirt. The first time they ever met, this boy was in tears, and begging his father for assistance.
"Please. Please, Mr. Xandra... I couldn't be in a bigger rut right now. All I ask is for help, sir, wise advice." The brick-like bangles that cuffed around his body shook along with him. "My people will die, they will perish under my ruling. I can't let my family's legacy end this way!"
His father nodded. "Raanan," his eyes prodded the child, "Tell Mother to get the soldiers. And tell her to get them quickly. Now Zynan--please, step this way with me..."
_____________
"And so," His voice boomed across the darkened meadow. "We will not fight for glory, we will not fight for happiness..."
Muffled chimes echoed across; numerous soldiers back talked him. "Then what we fightin' for?!"
"We will fight for collective reasons! Reasons we hold dear to our hearts, men. And don't forget your family! Fight for their seclusion in the matter..." A spear flew from the crowd and missed his head by inches. "But most importantly, fight for yourselves! Go, go, GO!"
And they surged to the grounds of Raanan's land; spears, bows, and arrows ready for killing.
"And leave their king for me."
...
He watched them from afar. He noted when they arrived, which was four hours ago. He acknowledged their rambunctiousness and willingness to fight. Raanan ordered his soldiers to be ready, but he told them to capture their leader and send whoever the bastard was to his throne. But now he realized that he was so greatly outnumbered that he stood no fighting chance.
But any probability is a probability.
Raanan's soldiers were trained so well that one could fight off five- but this didn't mean he'd win. Tears already sat fresh on his cheeks; seeing men die and die for no reason was eating at him. It always did. Raanan didn't know he'd been watching them for hours until a guard yelped in the hall.
"Guard, let him come in here alone." A collective sigh. "Follow my orders."
A flighty man with grisly hair busted through the door, panting, blood stained on his cheek. "R-Raanan? You... You..."
"I really grew up, mhm?"
He pushed some hair behind his ears. Turning to face the window, he spoke again. "You're not the only one who has noticed. I guess war really takes a lot out of a guy, huh?" Bright eyes made Zynan flinch. Raanan approached him with no guard up, no walls to protect him, and he was smiling.
"Raanan, there's no need to be brash. Let me control this land and you can go back to being an innocent young man." his accent, throaty and distinguished, made Raanan chuckle.
Rubbing a finger across his lips, he stepped closer. "The innocence ship has sailed, dear Zynan. And it's gone far away." A bloodthirsty lust rang in Raanan's eyes, but he knew he couldn't kill Zynan yet. He had too much to offer.
"S-So you really did grow, eh?"
"More than any man in his lifetime could. Now give me five good reasons for me not to finish you off, right here, right now." Raanan's ears were perched.
"Number one..." He stopped, and his broad shoulders stood clear. "I'm just the one you wanted. Just the one you need."
The knife- which Raanan had unsheathed secretly- fell to the floor. He quickly picked it up, and with a desire of one thousand rotations engulfing him...
"I'm so sorry, Zynan... I never wanted to hurt you- hurt us- but all good things must come to an end. And our relationship... It was never an exception."
And the statement rang true; after the last tear Raanan could cry over Zynan's death was banished, he took his own life.
Selena {f} and Squiddy {m}
...Just a little girl and her squid...
(story?)
(story.)
[PART ONE]
The little girl sat on the porch of the orphanage shop, hugging her new squid tightly and lovingly.
The tag on its head that she wripped off said his name was "Squiddy", so she started calling him that. She glared at the certificate of adoption she got when she picked him out.
Each child gets a new plushie or toy every week, because most kids have alot but since here is an Orphanage, for kids with no family.
Ms.Moldoun smiled at Selena and grabbed Squiddy's face. Selena however refused to let him go.
"Selena," Ms. Moldoun said softly. "Squiddy needs a bath." Selena shook her head frantically. "No!" The little girl exclaimed, refusing to let go of him and grabbing him back.
Arlena (Ms. Moldoun) was suprised to hear this. She had never seen such love for a toy. Especially a squid toy.
"You can take him into the washroom and give him a quick scrub," Arlena smiled. "All toys must be washed before they are played with."
Selena shook her head. "No," She replied. "I love Squiddy just the way he is." She madly frowned but then quickly glared at Squiddy and filled with a smile and love.
She stroked the toy carefully and skipped away into the orphanage. She hoped one day her and her best friend Squiddy would get to have a family... A family with another child; she has always wanted to have a sister.
Arlena followed Selena and quickly ran past her and took her squid into the employee washroom. No children were allowed in here, so Arlena was safe to wash her squid.
Selena sat in the hallway infront of the closed employee washroom door and bawled for her beloved Squid.
Mrs. Santino, AKA Marina, walked past the hallway and glanced at Selena. She quickly ran to Selena's rescue.
"Oh, Selena!" She exclaimed. "What's wrong?"
Selena sniffled and sobbed a little more. "Squiddy. Was. Taken." She replied, sobbing in between words.
Marina stared at the closed door. "Who's in there?" She could hear the tap running in the sink.
Selena sobbed. "Arlena..." She said. "Arlena took Squiddy!" She yelled, banging on the door and almost (not literally) dying of sadness. Marina opened the locked and closed door with a special employee key and grabbed the squid from Arlena's hands, then softly placed it into a towel and gave him to Selena.
"Ms.Moldoun!" She exclaimed. "I am ashamed of you!``
Marina was mad, Arlena was sad...
But at least a little girl was reunited with her squid.
This is the story of life.
Life is a cruel thing, many seem to over pass that important fact. I have not, and life doesn't like me either, so that helps me a lot.
It's ironic. His name was life, but he was never cruel to me.
And here is our story.
+=═=═=═=═=═=═=═=═=═=═=═=═=═=+
Life
Image
Solace
No matter how close we tried to be, we never could be together.
"Gimme back Mel!"
Mel was his black little Bear which he had to have everywhere no matter what.
"Then you give me Rose"
Rose is a hat which I wore everywhre no matter what. I was a silly child, naming a hat.
Also my signafying the love of plants.
We had a simple life, always teasing each other. Our families were very close to each other, only a few feet in between the dens.
We loved going places, from beaches to volcanoes, from big cities to little villages.
The one place I had seen that he hadn't was a mountain.
The same mountain that hadviolently destroyed his older brother who was now unable to walk.
He had an insane fear of snow from that day forward.
Yet he so desperately wanted to go there.
Why you ask?
He needed to. That is all he ever told me.
So one day, just us two traveled north to the mountain. We liked to call it Mt. Marwolaeth.
"A.-a-aare you sure about this?"
"Of course"
I would always say that, whether I was sure or not.
I knew we were going to be in pain, whether it be physical or mental, when we headed back.
When we could finally see the mountain in the dense fog that shrouded our sights, both of us gasped simoultaiously.
"I'm nervous....."
He always said that.
Then he ended up loving it.
Always...
Always.
After the 56-mile trek that lay behind us, we stand at the foot of the mountain.
I looked over to see how Life was doing.
He had a look on his face that I- no one would, or could, describe. Pure horror.
Until I realise the is the exact spot that it happened.
The Avalanche.
We started slowly up the craggy mountain paths as slowly as we could, for the fear of falling.
As I naturally hurried ahead, he kept the slow pace.
As I got dangerously near the top, I screeched, I hadn't realised how high up I had gotten. Life was much too far down. Little had I noticed that when I screeched, the snow shook.
But that wasn't what I was worried about at the time.
And that was my mistake.
'Life! Where are you Life!?'
Is what I had yelled. Hearing no response, the snow in which direction I had yelled had started to move, gaining speed.
Fast, faster, and faster it went.
"Liffeee! Noo no nono Life! Where are you!!"
I heard a terrifying yelp.
And every thing went black.
I woke up, my paws black wtih frostbite.
I couldn't remember what had happened, that was common.
I had jsut assument Life had gotten to the top and saw me sleeping and decided not to wake me up and was waiting at the bottom, that's usually what he did if I fell asleep.
As I padded down the mountain, I saw the reminants of the Avalanche.
Then it all came back to me...
'I can't live with myself'
Is what I always thought.
Still heading downward, I searched for a body.
Hoping to myself 'Maybe he escaped it. Maybe he did'
Then I always remembered I had said 'maybe'.
Truthfully I did expect to see him, but I was wrong.
I never found him.
No fur, no teddy, no scent.
He disappeared.
But the snow had taken him from me.
I would never forget that.
I walked back in silence, not thinking about where I was going either so I ran into multiple tree and shrubs.
My fur was full of dirt and leaves. I still couldn't feel my paws, but it was getting warmer and so were they.
After the extremely long walk back to my den, I thought for a minute.
The think snow on the ground froze my paws again.
I walked over to my garden, it was dead. No surprise there..Wait
The snow had killed them. Just like Life.
I shall make a garden.
And it will live.
And it will be Glorious.
I'm sorry, Life. You were never cruel after all.
This story is very emotional to me, as it closely relates to me and my family.
Looking for more flowers and plant items to add to Solace's Garden.
As I padded down the mountain, I saw the reminants of the Avalanche.
Then it all came back to me...
'I can't live with myself'
Is what I always thought.
Still heading downward, I searched for a body.
Hoping to myself 'Maybe he escaped it. Maybe he did'
Then I always remembered I had said 'maybe'.
Truthfully I did expect to see him, but I was wrong.
I never found him.
No fur, no teddy, no scent.
He disappeared.
But the snow had taken him from me.
I would never forget that.
I walked back in silence, not thinking about where I was going either so I ran into multiple tree and shrubs.
My fur was full of dirt and leaves. I still couldn't feel my paws, but it was getting warmer and so were they.
After the extremely long walk back to my den, I thought for a minute.
The think snow on the ground froze my paws again.
I walked over to my garden, it was dead. No surprise there..Wait
The snow had killed them. Just like Life.
I shall make a garden.
And it will live.
And it will be Glorious.
I'm sorry, Life. You were never cruel after all.
This story is very emotional to me, as it closely relates to me and my family.
Looking for more flowers and plants to add to Solace's Garden.
Sad... But Beautiful...
I almost cried.
