Another year with no april fool's event.

I personally prefer the item pranks. I still use the googly eyes and love the hat variants for this year. I remember some of the April Fools pranks and to me, they weren't super funny and ended up stressing me out more than anything, not to be rude to the artists or the site or anything, pranks just aren't my thing. The items pranks are awesome because you can choose whether or not to partake in it rather than being forced into it and stressed.

Edit: after looking back at some previous year's pranks, I can also see why they wouldn't want to do it every year. The pet updates would take an insane amount of time to do for all of the pets now on CS, there weren't as many in previous years but now there are millions of pets on this site that they would have to recreate and it would only last for 24 hours. Although some do look fun, I can't imagine the work and time that would go into it. I'm glad they still make us pets and items to adopt on the holiday!

games like cs have very little change to them, even events follow the exact same formulas year after year. so april fools events have always been a highlight of the year for me, even if it's just a small thing for one day.

I see no reason not to do the pranks if they are by default turned OFF, so you have to click a button on the front page to turn them ON. then you're only affected if you want to be.

Considering that most of the people I've seen on this site are adults or at least older teens, all this complaining is kind of immature. :? CS is just a free, silly game for people to collect pets and hang out. I haven't been here very long but I am COMPLETELY fine with not having some silly forum pranks because the staff is busy and it may make some people uncomfortable. I'm happy that we even got an April Fools event and really love all the pets (especially the kitties!). The suspicious hat is hilarious and enough of a prank for me. Like some people have said, I wouldn't mind them doing something bigger and having a toggle so people could turn it off (because honestly some of the previous pranks people have been talking about sound like they would bother me) but I'm also totally fine with them not doing anything more than silly pets and items.

Not to sound harsh but if a bunch of ADULTS are complaining about a petty, 24-hour-event that the staff aren't even obliged to create, ya'll need to take a break from the internet. Like many other users have said, the staff work so hard on this FREE game as it is; let's try being grateful for what we got instead of this childish complaining. :|

Would it be nice to have the 'Nick draws all the pets now' prank (one of the funniest, I love Nick Pets) or 'Suspicious Hat' or even 'Googly Eyes/Pets In Eggs' like pranks happen, since they are harmless and don't affect much again? Sure

But this is a website where you can OPT to spend your money, otherwise it is free. You can join and play for free and the artists spend time every single month contributing to and creating pet litters, 2nd Gens and all these collectible, growing pets for the users. If people spending their time, FOR FREE, making all this happen and you're still unsatisfied because 'WELL THIS EVENT DIDN'T HAPPEN' I don't think that makes the staff feel inclined to make it happen again at all.

I look forward to the silly pets! I'd love a good prank (like all the CS avatars turning into chickens for a day, or being turned into a goofy version) but this website has been around for 17 years. It's nearly an adult, ready to go to college, and complaining that the staff don't do enough and wanting them to change a lot of code or art for a one day event for a free website is a very big ask.

I'd love to see the staff do silly pranks like that again, if they feel up to/inclined to do so!

Love this view! Speakin truth. Thank you to the CS staff who do so much for us. I love the stuff we got for the event and I'm excited for all the upcoming events I know they work so hard on. <3 April fools is fun with or without, they always come through with something

I like the April Fool's Event (see my avatar) and I do miss it. The pranks did not confuse me.

Your opinion is valid but there is no reason to berate staff and call them “lazy.” CS is not a full time job for anyone. A lot of them work full time jobs in the real world. They shouldn’t feel bad for not finding the time to come up with something big that will affect the entire site just to undo it all the next day. Especially when preparing for a bigger event like Easter.

Also, they shouldn’t feel bad for trying to be considerate of users who might be affected by pranks. It’s not a “flimsy excuse,” it’s valid. Your joy shouldn’t come at the expense of someone else’s.

Again, you are entitled to your opinion, and yes I think it would be fun to have a little harmless prank (and tbh I though the hat was fun enough), but we need to learn to express these opinions in a way that isn’t accusatory or demeaning to other people.

The staff are busy ect but also most other games like this are celebrating and the jokes were fun.. it’s disappointing and understandable. People are entitled to their opinions.
Guess I’m saying I agree it’s sad but understandable.
Hopefully next year we will get something fun.

I understand the sentiment being said here, is might be a bit disappointing to come onto CS on April 1st and see no prank when sites like FR have a very elaborate site wide prank. However, please understand that there are very large differences between us and large sites like FR. They are staffed by full or part time employees, who dedicate large amounts of their time to the game. Chicken Smoothie has and still is fully run by volunteers. All members of staff pitch in to help in events, no matter how big or small. But at the end of the day we're still volunteers. With one of our largest events on the horizon when April 1st comes around, it's simply not feasible for us to do large scale pranks that are only up for 24 hours. Our time is spent doing other things, and our artists are hard at work preparing for Easter!

As volunteers we give up part of our day to this site because we love this site and want to see it succeed. All of us are adults who have irl lives and jobs, and while April Fool's was fun in the past, as the site has continued to grow it's just not as feasible.

And to address something people might be questioning: "But why don't you hire more staff?" Great question! We do! We just added on new mods and artist in the last few months, which has greatly helped out during events and day to day goings on of the site. But we can't just go hire more and more staff. Training takes months of time, and each user needs to be properly vetted by our admins to work on the site. It's also important to stress that the larger a team of people gets the harder it gets to communicate effectively. More miscommunications on art and moderating may be made with a larger team, and that's not something we really want, since we want to ensure that we're being as consistent as possible with the user base.

So while yes, I totally get why it's upsetting that there's been no site wide prank in a while, we just ask that you consider the reasons why. Easter is right around the corner, and this huge event is always so much fun. We really do try to do our best as staff members, because at the end of the day we're users just like everyone else, and we want to see this site succeed.

I haven’t been on cs for an April fools thing but I find it kinda annoying that people are going crazy over it, I understand if they didn’t do one last year but like, the mods have lives. They don’t live in your computer monitor.
