ButterflyChaser wrote:Trading pet peeve: when people send me one sided trades asking what I have to offer for the trade and the items or pet they are offering are beyond what I can offer. I mean, the pets on wishlist option is there for that purpose.
Most cases, I ignore these trade offers, but the one chance I did take on a trade like that I get mentioned about being unfair. I think I'll go back to ignoring such offers.
These annoy me too. I think they’re just trade baiting. Sending random suggestions to see if there’s anyone willing to overpay. If I send a suggestion, I at least add pets to their side so they have an idea of what I want.

A topic like this usually comes up every few months. I think it's totally valid, and I believe that a lot of users will agree with you. I personally haven't experienced it myself (then again, I'm usually the one receiving trades, not sending them). Most people are very kind to me. I try to respond in a way that's polite--and I usually end up overpaying too, the benefit of being an older account--so I think people are more comfortable making edits and talking kindly to me.
I think trading is hard to do when you have a busy life. I can empathize with the people who cancel or let trades rot because sometimes, trading takes a lot of effort and it's easier to ignore it or just cancel it. It's unfortunate, but I get why it happens.
Also 100% agree with the people who said that there are a lot of kind gift-givers on here. I even had a birthday gift sent to me out of the blue.
So yeah, I generally have a positive view on trading. But I think I'm in the minority here.

Trading is much harder than it previously was in my opinion. Perhaps because the fanbase was younger at this point, but I had noticed this with other games as well, my primary example being Animal Jam. And while this is off topic, I used to play that game in its prime, and its something thats across majority trading/economy based games that everything has become a lot more picky and cutthroat.

Yeah, this game and your example of Animal Jam has become more of a trade your entire account for one pet/item. It's quite common to see that with the recent event rares and uncommons most people will not trade them away unless your offering extreme overpay. The 2019 fae mischief butterfly wolves and malk foxes are a good example.

Trading has just become ridiculous at this point honestly, its not just you feeling it. At this point it feels like if you have recent rares you might as well have no rares at all, and nobody wants your uncommon and under so what's the point of even trading at that point? I've had more successful trades the earlier back I go in my trade history than I've had recently. It's just sad.

Don’t know if it’s been said, but I think a *small* reason trading seems difficult could be people not locking/labeling NFT pets. My pets without a group is usually trade locked because it has pets I have like… never accepted offers for in 2 or so years… if I know I’m really attached to a pet —> it goes into a locked group. I have learned I don’t accept offers, and so no one wastes their time. If you really like a pet, I suggest you do the same. Some people have pets unlocked but have “NFT” written, which is better than nothing (but it’s rough finding it from your WL then seeing it’s “NFT” but that’s another topic).
…
I admit I have some pets that I really hesitate trading, but I only recognize it when I get a trade offer… but in that case I just think I’m not interested in the offer *shrug* If I find myself declining offers for a certain pet often, I go “oh I probably just want to keep this one, and I should put it in a locked group so no one wastes their time offering/so I don’t have to decline trades.” I can always put it back in a trading group c:
…
This is just a different take on things- I have no idea how many users lock their pets, and favourites are subjective for the most part. Just curious what people think about this? Idk. Just wanted to contribute my thoughts.

That’s what I’ve been doing mostly. My ocd doesn’t really allow me to mix unrelated species outside of certain exceptions(they just don’t look aesthetically pleasing to me to have a lot of mixed linearts), so I will slap an “NFT” on it. Some species like lions and dragons I know I rarely trade, so that’s when I lock the whole group. If I find myself marking several pets nft, I lock the group. My staff pets and Warriors are locked because I know I’m never trading those. I do wish people locked pets more often, but I understand having a couple tentative pets that you really like, but would trade for the right offer. I have a few of those myself that I’m picky to part with but not quite attached enough to mark nft.
I think the site layout it partially to blame too. New users are kind of thrown into it with no tutorials on how to use the site other than a few forum posts that they still have to stumble upon themselves. It would be nice if new users got a sort of care package of all the information they will need to use the site. I remember it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out I could lock my groups since it’s just some easy to miss buttons at the bottom of the page

I think the main problem with trading is that people send trades that only benefit their end,but if there’s no incentive for someone to accept the trade, then it’s not likely to be accepted. Trading involves two people so if only one person is gaining from it,it’s not appealing. An example would be people who only want high demand pets, but expect others to accept low demand for their high demand since they are collecting. I’ve often had others use their collection to try and guilt me into accepting non beneficial trades, but someone else’s collection isn’t really my concern as I have my own collections to work on. I think what people should remember is that everyone has their own account and what is in their account isn’t more important than someone else’s. Would probably lead to trades that are better for both parties. I always try to send trades that benefit the other person in some way and it’s worked for me in many cases, not all the time, but successful trades are more likely.

THIS! I usually want to accept trades that I know I won't regret, lots of people on this site expect people to throw away over 500 pets for one of them and I don't like it!! I'm giving you my whole account yet you still want more!?! Someone wanted 3 C$ for three very commons on their end, I rejected it faster than I could think! I'm not giving you something I traded RARES AND UP for just to get three pets that are like bottom barrel of my wl? No way no how.
