Discussion about the Pets, Items, Dress-ups, Events, Site, Forum or other CS features!

Yeah, I don't see why the date of the pet could just be jumbled, so older pets aren't listed first. That won't stop anyone who know what the pets are, but it may encourage more players to look through the selected pets shown to them instead of just clicking the pet on the top left, much like dec 18th pets and store pets do in the pound already~ UwU

Not only is it not open for long, it doesn't open very often either. Most of the time I visit CS it's the Lost & Found, which is okay every now and then but it seems to be open all the time nowadays. So I end up not checking as often and missing the opening when it is, when there's a chance of rares. I'm quite fast at grabbing rares so it's nice that others are getting a chance at rares, but I do miss the thrill of the Pound opening, and often past the opening there aren't even any pre-2019 WL commons to adopt so I often return with nothing.
A while back I remember there was a pet shortage that meant less Pound pets were released each opening, perhaps that's still the case?
Despite the fact that the pets go so fast, it is good to see the site active around Pound openings. But I wish it could be open for a little longer.

I don't think the bots are the issue.
I am in a server with one but I do not use it for the timing and I still make almost every pound opening. The only things the bot does are set a timer, and show people what rares+ are in the pound (You can do the second thing yourself by simply checking the pets currently in the pound's account.) Once I began to understand how the timer on the pound's page actually works timing it myself got a lot easier. I am still not 100% sure hour it works but its definitely a very confusing timer. The most important thing is to note within actually means "less than" not "around".
withing 10 hours means less than 10 hours, usually very significantly even when the message first appears (though I might be wrong about that, maybe it actually starts at 10 hours but that hasn't been my experience).
Within 6 hours or within 7 hours means less than 6 hours (or 7 hours), by seemingly varying amounts greater than three-4 hours. Check back in about 2 and a half hours to see a more accurate time (if it still says less than 6 hours repeat, though usually it shows an actual time).
I am 99% sure Within 3 hours means anywhere from 2 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds from now from now to 2 hours 0 minutes 1 second from now.
Once it gets below two hours it (usually) starts counting down by the minute so it will say like 1 hour 31 minutes or something.
Once it gets below two minutes it will count down by seconds. Aim to refresh when it says 1-3 seconds (depending on the speed of your computer and internet).
Choose your strategy. If images don't load in for you immediately, I reccomend spam clicking the first pet on the page as soon as it comes up. If images do load, take a (very brief ) glance at the entire page (helps if you are zoomed out in your browser) to see if you recognize any rares, then if you do spam click that and if you don't spam click the oldest pet on the page (once again always in the first slot). If absolutely nothing you want is on the first page, don't despair usually there are still older uncommons on the second and third (I have even gotten a rare from those a couple times).

There needs to be a better distinction in this discussion about Notification "bots" and autoclicking script bots.
Notification alerts kick a human into motion. Its no more cheating than a friend telling you to get online. The navigation, refreshing and clicking is all done by a human.
Scripts to refresh at a rapid rate and then claim the oldest(first) pet loaded on the display would be easy to make. That is a type of snipe bot that could be considered cheating and I would support bans based on collected server data. However, I have never received a moonswirl page when loading the pound, so i don't believe a refresh bot is commonly being used.
The smaller adopt pool does feel frustrating, but in my experience, the pound has always been a gone-in-seconds type of gamble.
Edit: I agree randomizing the date order would help slow people down, and it seems rather reasonable.

Thank you, I'm a bit tired of users demonizing the Pound bot without actually understanding what it does (allows you to set a notification, something you not only need to opt into manually BUT you could also do without a bot!) when the real issue is the infrequent openings and small amount of pets per opening.
I struggle to support randomising the dates because... don't rereleases already do that to an extent? And store pets? I've multiple times seen a layout where the top left is a 2013 uncommon but there is an old VR rerelease lurking somewhere in the middle. It's a good idea in theory and I wouldn't be mad if it happened but it does feel a bit pointless.
