I can agree with hoarding the rares, I saw someone hoard 15 UR cucumbers and that's cool you know, you wanna hoard them go for it, but please leave some for other players as well. And I'm not gonna make this a rant, but I agree with you 100% I had few lovely people gift me VR and I only now started keeping track of them sadly but it is my dream to own an OMGSR and without Dec. 18th that just seems impossible to me, as at most right now I can offer few recent easter rares and a bunch of uncommon and loads of VR commons and bellow.

And with the pound it just seems like sometimes, the rarer players get to snag up all the rares as well, the amount of times where the one odd WL I wanted got snagged in the second the pound loaded just kinda makes me lose hope in those kind of things.

I disagree about the pound. Just put the rares on your wishlist and be there when the pound goes online. Might not work first try but I’ve got loads of rares and very rares over the years that way. If you're active and actively trading there’s lots of opportunities to get older rares and at some point lists/omgsr. You just need to apply yourself and actually spend the time on that. If you’re not willing to do that then you honestly don’t get to complain.
I agree about the hoarding though. Especially of older pets.

Some of us are collectors, I have a CS bot set up with a pound ping set up, so I make sure I'm always on time, but some of us are not rich kids who can afford speedy wifi without it disconnecting on us when the pound is about to open up, yea, some of you are lucky and manage to get them things but a lot of the time we don't. There are many factors you need to take in to consideration, some of us are thick like a watermelon (aka me) who don't understand the demand or the 3 moth rule, who struggle with these kind of things.

What about the new players who just want to collect as now known "low value" pets are we gonna start discouraging them from trying to achieve them all as well? Because sometimes we will log in trade, go to the pound and leave the day without achieving anything or not even get to log on properly for a week on because of things outside of online life, I think everyone has a right to feel a little frustrated over these kind of things and voice their opinion about it without being told, "Honestly you shouldn't complain about it."

Believe me my wifi is a lot, but speedy it is not. I’m also neither rich nor a kid. I have still gotten rares multiple minutes after the pound opening. Even after my internet gave up. Of course bad internet can be frustrating, but that is not the fault of other players or of the game.
My “Honestly you shouldn’t complain about it.” Was about people that complain about not getting List pets or omgsr.
I don’t know what you’re playing at with “What about the new players who just want to collect as now known "low value" pets are we gonna start discouraging them from trying to achieve them all as well?“ since that has nothing to do with what I said. At least from my point of view, feel free to explain it to me though.
If people complain about things that they could change then it just leaves this negative atmosphere which I think is moreso the reason why the spark of CS is fading than any demand.
Demand like in the real world is how many people want a certain (limited)product. On CS that product is pets. If a lot of people want the same pet and that pet is only available a certain number of times then people are willing to pay more for that Pet. That’s how economy works.
The 3 month rule is relatively simple as well. If the pet you want is within 3 months older or younger as the pet you offer and of the same rarity the trade is rarity wise fair. (Demand changes that. Certain species are more sought after then others.)
Feel free to text me directly if you have questions or just want to talk. Otherwise I feel like we might get even more off topic.

To first stay on topic, I’ve personally found myself semi-quitting slowly due to the trading aspect — it’s just been really slow as of lately compared to a year ago. I wouldn’t exactly call it spark fading but the demand pushing just really throws me off and I sometimes wish trading would be as easy as back when I joined~

And then, well, for obvious reasons I have to agree with @never, I personally believe that everyone should be given the freedom to hoard whatever they want, be it commons or omgsr. I don’t see any problem with it as long as they pay fairly for their hoards, all rare+ pets (but store pets) will be rereleased along the line and it’s not as if there’s only a certain amount of that one pet in circulation. Going by that logic then hoarding in general is bad because no matter if it’s 15 omgsr or 1000 of one common outcome, it will make such a tiny dent in the availability that it shouldn’t matter.
Following that idea even further to the extreme we’d have to question collections as well, as, ultimately, not every single user could get a complete collection down the line due to there being some pets and items that exist less than there are players.
There’s always two sides of the coin, I agree that rare+ hoarding isn’t an option for everyone but those who do find preference in the designs of rare+ pets should have the opportunity to do as they wish~

Yep. I’ve hit a total burnout lately, it’s hard to stay interested. I also used to have quite a few friends around, but many have quit, become less active or I just don’t interact with on a CS basis anymore. There’s also quite a lot of negativity that relates to every and any community on CS so that’s also a bit of a factor for me. Makes it less fun to me, gotta be all too careful.

I’ve also taken a very large dip in interest for art which is one of the only other things I am personally interested in here aside from collections/hoards. Add all the offline struggles I’ve been facing this year and bleh. It’s just not the same right now. So I’ve kinda found other hobbies? I dunno.. I just have better things to do these days besides sit on CS for hours on end. I’m sure I’ll have another phase of pure addiction to CS this summer, but right now it’s just not that fun.

I wanna add on to the conversations also; Rare+ hoards usually don’t really have any sort of effect on the economy and if people can get them. There’s a few rare instances where demand is driven up, but it’s normal for things to fluctuate especially now with the lack of a proper single rares list guide to use. I’d also like to argue as a “richer” player, no, we don’t always get the rares from the pound. I believe it may even be easier for less rare users to climb now since people are often more flexible with certain things. Non-dogs used to get several hundred rares a pop, now it’s only about 100 09s from what I hear. It’s relatively cheap. Sure, getting that number takes patience but if you’re dedicated you can certainly climb rarer on CS. There’s tons of ways to get small trade ups and eventually get closer to your dream pets or whatever it may be you are after. Plus you have websites like FR that have a high offsite trade demand.
    wip sig..
back from small hiatus for a little while. would love WL trades.

Since we're coming back to the pickle I'm gonna put this out there, You hoard what you want to hoard, that's cool.

But some players, especially the newer ones may not know that UR's get re-released every year on Dec. 18, which may discourage them from doing certain things, like everyone says as long as you trade fair be my guests and do whatever you want, but if ever a newer player reaches out to you and asks questions about it do take the time to answer them instead of letting the messages rot, I'm not saying this has happened to anyone but if it ever happened, but it seems like a lot of messages/trades are left to rot now because people don't feel like replying or just cancelling.

I think it is partially my mistake for mentioning this as the message came out not the way I wanted (please do excuse me it was 2am) but I don't meant it in a bad way more as a factor of "You know, some of us are getting discouraged from getting and doing certain trades because it seems like there is probably someone better than us,"

A lot of us players aren't as mentally stable, even as adults we have sever insecurities that might be brought to these kind of games that we see as our escape.

Edit: Sometimes I also make completely no sense because English is my 2nd language, sometimes what makes sense to me might not to others, making my messages come off as rude or just misinterpreted.

I disagree here as me & my friends always share which pound pets we got - we all have been here for years and sure, sometimes there are rares. But we also quite often dismiss rarer pets for common hoard pets. I myself usually do this, because I definitely do not want another pet sitting in my trade groups collecting dust when I can just finish one of my minihoards.

Rare pound pets will always be more likely to be snagged away first, but that's not only by older/"richer" players. Quite often it's just the random newer player or the one who only owns 5 rares despite being here for a few years.

To me, no. I always squeal with joy when I get a rare pound pet or I get an accepted trade ^w^

Trading has always been a big put off for me. I mainly use trading to get C$ to get art since trading pets seems near impossible at the moment.
For example, I got an OMGSR Zebra from December 2019 and got super low-balls constantly because it is low demand??? There is too much emphasis put on demand and I hate it. I finally managed to shift the thing, but not for as much as I would have liked (the person was super nice though, and wanted the Zebra as a pet, bot for profit, so I wasn't too bothered).
Another thing about trading is people having "NFT" or "NEFT" pets open for trades??? It puts me completely off trading with people if I have to dig through their pets to find something I can even offer on. Trading is such a large part of this game, and I even used to try and collect all the pets on the site, but it got so hard and laborious because some people are just pretty horrible.

That is fair enough as we also do as well, but a lot of the time when we log on the second it loads the pets that we have on our WL, which is usually 1 to 2 get snagged up just at the page loaded, I wouldn't really had voiced this if it wasn't such a common occurrence to the three of us. It has been getting a little better the past few days, but it's still difficult. I guess as I see it, it's good but sometimes it feels like something could be improved, and I don't mean it in a bad way as the pound system has worked like this for many years and is the best way to go, but sometimes it does get very frustrating.

I can 100% agree with the NFT groups and the demand, it is so hard to trade now because sometimes it does feel like it's nearly impossible. Please, please, please lock your NFT groups, you can showcase your pets in both your trade rules and profiles instead. The only NFT group I have open in the little group which contains one of each hoard pet I'm currently hoarding, because keeping large hoard groups open was even a pain for me to trade people when going through the pets on their WL group.

To me, CS is part of my online history, and I will not quit it. I had some inactive phases, though, but I still always returned to get the new pets.

I honestly don't understand why people even quit completely. You're not required to interact with anyone or post in the forums. You can simply block private messages, lock all your groups, come here once a month (or during events) and collect your pets. All the trading stuff and whatever can be done another time too.
