Whitetip sat on her favourite windowsill and stared through the frosted pane onto the white wonderland that was the garden, below. Her tail twitched in agitation and she turned her gaze to the children playing out side with the powdery snow. Winter was her time of year, the time she had been born, and the children had her caged inside while they had fun. Of course, it was her choice not to go out. They wouldn't stop her. They would enjoy tormenting, throwing snowballs at her until she ran, watching her trip into the lethal snowdrifts. Last year had been agony, and she had learnt her lesson. Do not go out when the children are playing.
She wondered what they were making this time. They had finished throwing the hard, round balls of ice and rock, and now they were gathered round a spot in the middle of the covered lawn, gathering snow. She blinked and tilted her head. Last time it had been a huge white man, with black spots of coal for eyes, a carrot for a nose and a twig smile. She hadn't liked him at all. Who was he to stand on her garden, to not even acknowledge her presence, not matter how she pushed and clawed him? The children had enjoyed watching that too.
Looking away from the window, she surveyed her owner's bedroom with a blank expression. She had explored this room so many times, she could find her way around with her eyes blind-folded. Another joke of the children. Wrap a strip of material over her eyes and set her free in the house. Many a time she had fallen down the stairs...But the children were always punished when her owner found out.
She licked a paw delicately and then jumped down from beside the pot of tulips, raising her tail. She trotted around the room, then took a running jump onto the bed. As she landed, her paws sank into the thick, lilac bedspread and she purred slightly. Padding across the bed, she settled herself onto the spot were her owner's head lay at night, and closed her eyes.
It was a while later when she heard the front door crash against the kitchen wall, the glass shaking in its frame. She raised her head towards the sound, hearing the children's loud voices. And then her owner's voice, so clam and serene, quietening them and then the front door closed, and the voices became silent and the footsteps thudded away, getting quieter. For food. she thought to herself. Which meant that her own meal would be available soon, but she always waited until the children had finished. Although her owner was there, it made her uncomfortable to be so close to them and their kicking feet.
But now they were inside, she could go out! Her heart raised and she smiled slowly. Pulling herself to her feet, she shook herself and made her way over to the window sill again. What she saw shocked her. Sitting outside on her lawn, looking as bold as brass, was a pure white cat...( Any comments would be appreciated ^^; )Part two coming soon! ^^;
