So if there is nobody that would delete tons of pets we can only change the demand by keeping lots of pets in nft groups.
Once you have 1,000 or so commonish pets in a hoard you start to notice that there are less of them available uft around the site.
Mostly because you have them all :D

Accalia Chanteloup wrote:If I was going to do this, the absolute last thing I'd do is make a public post about it in the forums... people who don't participate mustn't know what pet you choose. The honest, decent people who take part will delete the pet you choose, meaning the ones who do the hard work won't benefit from it, and everybody else who has one of the pet but doesn't participate will suddenly have got themselves a R/VR without having to work for it at all... If even one person keeps their hoard, they could end up with a thousand Rares, which they only had to trade a Common's worth for - because when they were trading for them, they WERE Commons. And even if you had the power, it would be wrong to force people to delete their hoards. What if they honestly wanted to keep the hoard because they like the pet, no rarity subterfuge involved?
Personally I cannot support this. If I had that many extra pets I'd gift them to newbies that want them, I wouldn't hoard a pet I don't like and then delete it so that it's harder for people who DO like it to get hold of it. And to me, it seems a little disrespectful of the artists. Not only are you saying you don't like their work, by deleting tons of a pet they've worked hard to make, but they made the rarities the way they are for a reason, and you're trying to change that just because it's interesting.
But I am under no delusions that anybody will actually listen to me, so I'll be interested to see what happens anyway.
i agree to this
especially about the artist part

well i know it will take along time but i already picked out my pet and if anyone wants to help feel free. it will take along time to delete them but it would even make a difference even if we dont delete them. it would make it harder for others to find and that would make it more in demand. im obviosly going to pick out a pet i dont like as much so i dont feel bad deleting it.

Even if you hate the pet, what if someone else loved it so much, they would give away all of their pets just to hoard it?
No, this doesn't seem right to me.
It someone asked me to delete all my Coontails, I would flatly refuse. I took time and effore to get those, and I'm proud to be a hoarder of them. I coudn't care less what the rarity was, it could be very common for all that I care. I wanted to hoard them because of the design, not the rarity. If you want to go through with this, do not ask other people to delete their hoards. They took time and energy on them, and if you care enough for a stupid rarity, go right ahead and delete your pets, just don't ask others to do it too.

if u looked over all of the post, we arnt making anyone delete there hoards. im going to hoard a certain pet and then when i reach 1,000 or so i will delete them. if anyone wants to join me then they can. there was nobody saying that were going to make people delete there hoards. even if i dont delete them it would make it harder to get and make the demand higher. just like the shimas. there rares but people put them higher on rarity because of demand.its sorta just an expierment. and i am deleting the pets i get. im going to be trading for them. why do u seem so angry about this. u arnt loosing anything and u have nothing to do with it. If ur just going to start drama about this then please leave. its my choice to delete the ones i collect......

I think this would be fun if it was an effort to increase demand instead of rarity, therefor just amassing a group of people to hoard large numbers of a pet because they like it, and for the purpose of hoarding/collecting instead of deleting.
Deleting... it just rubs me the wrong way, honestly. Even if it *technically* doesn't affect me, I would be pretty annoyed if I found out a pet I was attempting to hoard was being deleted by the hundreds. I certainly would never knowingly trade/gift someone a pet that was just going to end up deleted for a project that may not even work, when it could be going to someone who actually needs or wants the pet for their collection.

The idea is to hoard a pet for the purpose of deleting it to make the rarity go up, not to make people delete the hoards they made because they liked the pet.
And if anyone is concerned about trying to hoard pets only to find out that someone else is going to delete them, then the chosen pet would need to be one that no one is going to hoard. Maybe a (somewhat unpopular) rat or spider from 2012. This way, you wouldn't have to worry about upsetting everyone, but you would still be able to see if the experiment works.

A friend and I were considering doing that once, with a very common outcome from August 2010. Except we were both kind of new at the time and didn't have very much to trade for it, so we eventually scrapped that idea.

Demand is also a good tool for changing the value of a pet.
Look at the Black Advents, we have seen people paying sorbets for them. Now it seems that there are more of them on the market, but some time ago people would trade anything to get one.
I think that some hoarders may do this do rise the value of the pet they love, sometimes it's not intended, but everyone would like their favourite pet to be sought after and appreciated.
